The Stella and Charles Guttman Community College is a beacon of innovation and knowledge creation in higher education, a two-year college where evidence-based high-impact practices in curriculum design and delivery permeate the educational model and have yielded graduation rates that are the highest in CUNY’s community college sector and above the national average. The centerpiece of Guttman’s educational model is an integrated first-year core curriculum, where students examine current world issues and use New York City as a living text and laboratory. Thus, connecting information and concepts across multiple disciplines, contexts, and perspectives. This immersive approach equips Guttman students with the foundation of knowledge and skills essential to their intellectual, social, civic, and professional endeavors in and beyond the classroom. The College admitted its first cohort of 300 students in August 2012 and has established an enrollment target of approximately 5,000 students in the coming years. The Office of Admissions is seeking a highly reliable and energetic Admissions Advisor to assist in recruitment activities for prospective students and their families. Reporting to the Associate Director of Admissions, the Admissions Advisor will assist in the preparation for its long-term expansion to enroll approximately 5,000 students. This position necessitates working some evenings and some occasional weekends as well as traveling to off-campus locations.
Along with the CUNY Title Overview, the successful candidate will perform the following tasks:
Represent the College at high school and community events and college fairs and assist with campus-based admissions activities.
Collaborate with counselors from high schools and community-based organizations to generate inquiries from prospective students and facilitate their admission to and enrollment in the College.
Support the Admissions Office by providing assistance with visitor reception, campus tours, and other College events as needed.
Liaise with other enrollment management and academic offices as well as with the CUNY Welcome Center regarding recruitment and admission functions.
Work closely with departments across the College to ensure a seamless transition for entering students.
Counsels prospective students on their academic goals and how they may be achieved at the College,
Provides referrals to other College departments as needed to further assist student/applicant
Conducts follow-up with students from inquiry stage to registration.
Respond to all telephone/e-mail inquiries and referrals.
Note:
- Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.
Until further notice, this is a hybrid position, eligible to work remotely and work in the office.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with under-prepared high school students from diverse cultures/backgrounds in an educational setting or program.
Excellent written and oral communication, presentation, and group facilitation skills.
Experience working with Customer relationship management (CRM).
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
Proactive problem solving and follow-up to resolve student issues.
Strong attention to detail.

Conducts open house sessions and orientations to ensure applicants are fully informed of requirements and processes
Assists in direct recruiting at high schools, community outreach events, and other appropriate locations

Salary commensurate with education and experience up to $50,745.
