Program Overview:

The United States Coast Guard (USCG) requires contracted support to sustain the AMVER Program with 24/7, 365-day Operational Watch Support.

AMVER is a worldwide voluntary ship reporting system operated by the United States Coast Guard (USCG) to promote safety of life and property at sea. Created in response to crises like the sinking of the Titanic.

Amver’s mission is to quickly provide Search and Rescue support and report accurate information on the positions and characteristics of vessels near a reported distress.

AMVER personnel receive vessel arrival and departure data in various formats (fax, email, spreadsheet, web service) and reviews the data for accuracy, and when required communicates requests for assistance to the proper USSCG authority.

Position Description:

Responds to end-user phone, email, or chat requests for support to resolve basic computer, application, system, device, access, or performance issues. Utilizes product information or solution database to research, troubleshoot, and deliver solutions. Advises users on the methods, steps, and actions to resolve and avoid future issues and provides documentation as needed. Documents incidents using help desk systems or tools. Escalates problems to appropriate levels or teams to achieve issue resolution. May support installs or upgrades of software or devices, set up user profiles, or re-set passwords. Fulfills all service level standards for response time and quality. May require an associate degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor.

You may be asked to work evenings, weekends, or holidays to monitor and correct AMVER messages.

• Process Vessel location reports in accordance with AMVER Standard Operating Procedures SOPs
• Verify that notices contains the required information as directed by the Government
• Enter the minimum required information, as directed by the Government, into the AMVER database
• Provide follow-up communication to USCG Search And Rescue Office (LANTAREA)

Requirements:

Associate's Degree (preferred, or 2 years of relevant experience)
