POSITION: Bartender

CLASSIFICATION: Part-Time

DEPARTMENT: Patron Experience

REPORTS TO: Bar/Hospitality Manager

Bartenders at McCarter Theatre join the Patron Experience Department as members of the concessions team. In this role, bartenders serve food and drink to audience members who attend our performances and special events.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

· Take ownership of the daily operation and success of the Concessions Bar.

· Engage patrons at performances and specials events.

· Troubleshoot guest issues, on the spot, to ensure a great theatre experience.

· Make drinks to quality specifications.

· Ensure the cleanliness of the bar, storage, and lobby areas.

· Keep track of concession supplies, food items, beer, and wine inventory.

· Restock concession supplies, food items, beer, and wine inventory during every shift.

· Maintain accurate cash drawer and uphold cash-handling safety procedures.

· Be aware of intoxicated patrons and those exhibiting disorderly conduct to ensure that intoxicated patrons are not served alcoholic beverages. Alert Bar/Hospitality Manager about the patrons immediately.

· Check for valid identification for anyone who appears to be 30 years of age and under. Refuse alcoholic beverages to anyone who does not meet qualifications.

· Label open wine bottles with the date opened.

· Uphold New Jersey laws as they apply to alcohol service and bartender liability

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Superior customer service skills
• Excellent verbal communication skills - multilingual a plus
• Able to stand for 4 hours and lift up to 25 pounds

· Maintain a professional appearance

· Friendly demeanor

• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
• Comfortable working in a collaborative environment and with patrons, staff, students and artists of a diverse background
• CPR training a plus
• Must be vaccinated for COVID 19 and received at least one booster
• Background check required

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 per hour

• Evening shift
• Holidays
• Monday to Friday
• Weekend availability
