Job Summary

Under general direction, Bus Drivers operate motor coaches to transport passengers in a safe, efficient and courteous manner. Drivers are responsible for pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicle and completing related reports. The employees of the City are required to serve citizens and customers in a tactful, courteous manner; establish and maintain good working relationships with staff, directors, elected officials, and general public.

Compensation

$20.00 per/hour. This is a part-time job and is not eligible for benefits nor paid time off.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must have earned a High School diploma or hold a G.E.D., or equivalent
• Must have 3 years of work experience with at least 1 year as a bus driver, truck driver salesperson, or public relations.
• Must have earned a valid commercial driver’s license “C-CP” endorsements and have less than 3 points on driving record in last 2 years
• Meet physical requirements as specified by the Federal Department of Transportation for Coach operators
• Must be able to read a street map and find unknown locations quickly
• Knowledge of the service areas of the City, major streets and landmarks, street numbering system is preferred;
• Must have an ability to perform mathematical calculations, maintain reports, and be able to work in a time-structured environment under minimal direct supervision

Essential Job Functions

• Drives vehicle on major thoroughfares to various destinations according to assigned schedule.
• May assist disabled passengers into and out of the vehicle
• May secure passengers’ wheelchairs to restraining devices to stabilize wheelchairs during the trip
• May operate radio or similar device to communicate with base station or other vehicles to report disruption of service
• May keep records of trips and behavior of passengers
