Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: 40 hours per week; flexible to the needs of the program. (May require early morning, evening, and some weekend hours.)
Qualifications: Bachelors Degree and 2 years working experience with the I/DD population; Associates Degree and 3 years working experience with the I/DD population or High School Diploma, 4 years working experience with the I/DD population. Completion of the College of Direct Support is preferred. Must possess proficient organizational and computer skills. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs preferred. Experience working in the field of disabilities and regulatory agencies preferred.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance: Authorized to work in the United States and pass all background clearances.
Summary/Objective: The DSP Success Coach is responsible for assisting the employee to succeed in their initial 6-months of employment, providing individualized, person-centered skills training, support and coaching to those staff that work with individuals with developmental disabilities in their work setting. This position will serve as a positive role model for team work, providing training and coaching to assist the employee with their involvement in individual advocacy, rights, informed decision making and dignity of risk for the people supported.
Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
1. Provide assistance to staff in a variety of work settings including, but not limited to residential, community PreVoc, and day programs.
2. Responsible for reviewing orientation materials with staff to ensure their understanding and responsibilities related to access all electronic systems, initial trainings, policies, procedures, work schedule, etc.
3. Responsible to be available during the new staffs regular work schedule to provide effective skills instruction, training and feedback on variety of job tasks the staff will be responsible for such as, cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, money management, vocational/work skills (jobs in community), socialization, safety, health, community inclusion, travel training, communication, driving, etc.
4. Responsible to promote staff proficiency in 23 of the OPWDD Core Competencies and the OPWDD Code of Ethics
5. Regularly touch base and communicate effectively with staff and their supervisors in a supportive manner
6. Conduct observations of staff, using observation tools, and sit in on debriefings and coaching sessions to provide feedback.
7. Confer with Director of Quality Services and Staff Development to inform agency-wide training needs.
8. Coach staff with fulfilling accurate and high quality documentation requirements.
9. Level of interaction will vary on a case-by-case basis depending on the needs of each staff person and previous relevant work experience.
10. Help identify staff who are at risk of leaving and guide them to HR for supports as needed
11. Perform or ensure that a daily safety inspection of your site(s) is conducted to minimize and address any possible safety hazards, and to ensure all equipment is being utilized safely and properly.

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
