Position Highlights
The Department of Emergency Medicine is recruiting a Clinical Research Assistant to coordinate various clinical trials. In addition to recruiting patients, collecting/reporting data and maintaining study compliance, this position will also coordinate the Research Associate Program (RAP). RAP is an undergraduate and graduate program that encourages students to learn about and participate in research.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintain awareness of status of all active studies.
  • Implement new studies and collaborate with Clinical Research Coordinators.
  • Identify potentially eligible participants.
  • Consent and enroll patients.
  • Recruit RAP student volunteers.
  • Train RAP student volunteers.
  • Schedule RAP student shifts for rotation in the Emergency Department.
  • Coordinate undergraduate course teaching students about clinical research in the Emergency Department (BME 493B).
  • Document in applicable systems (tracking, electronic health, etc.) participants approached, screened, and enrolled in the study.
  • Conduct data entry and validation to ensure accuracy, quality and compliance of the data collection process.
  • Maintain study compliance with procedures and documentation.
  • Prepare for and participate in monitor visits, audits, and quality reviews (internal and external) in a professional manner.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and attend meetings with study sponsors.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of research clinical skills.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required.
  • Five (5) years of relevant experience required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience with the Research Associate Program as a student or volunteer.

  • Experience with study initiation and regulatory document maintenance.

  • Experience with research protocols, development, and regulations.

  • Experience with Cerner.
