Candidates please note: This position is available on our weekend shift which consists of twelve (12) hours on Saturday and Sunday and eight (8) hours on Monday (the eight shift could be Friday instead of Monday); work thirty two (32) hours and get paid for forty (40) hours. Scheduled off days are Tuesday through Friday or Monday through Thursday depending upon the shift. Training will be on the Monday - Friday crew before being assigned to the weekend crew.


CNC Tool Grinder (Weekend Shift) - BWX Technologies, Inc. - Barberton, OH


Purpose


  • Operates a variety of grinding machines and set ups.
  • Operates and programs CNC grinding machine to perform any grinding or checking operation equipment is capable of.
  • Works from set up sheets, prints, manuscripts tapes, CNC memory bank, M.D.I, written and verbal instructions.
  • Develops own programs and stores same on manuscripts and network directories.
  • Responsible for accurate assembly and identification of all present components in tool packages.
  • Hooks up components/fixtures and assists crane operator.
  • Assemble/dissembles components, tools and fixtures.
  • Makes in-process changes on own or under supervision of programmer and/or immediate supervisor.

Minimum Requirements


  • High school diploma or GED equivalency required.
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ relevant experience performing precision machining functions on large machines is desired. Journeyman level machinist designation or equivalent is preferred.
  • Must be willing to work any shift.
  • Must be proficient with CNC controls, including G and M coded commands.
  • Must be able to work to ±.001" tolerance and microfinish 16 when necessary.
  • Must be able to edit or modify programs as necessary. Must be able to write minor programs.
  • Must be able to recognize potential problem as the machine is running and compensate to avoid collisions.
  • Ability to demonstrate use of various measuring instruments, including dial bore gages, indicator snap gages, verniers, .0001 micrometers, and other specialty gaging equipment
  • Possess skills necessary to maintain accurate documentation and the ability to follow complicated procedures and document accordingly.
  • Must pass all pre-employment processes, to include skills assessments and mechanical comprehension testing, background check, drug screen, and physical examination.

Physical Demands


While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required communicate verbally and with written information; to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and use ladders inside and outside of parts being machined . The employee is occasionally required to lift and move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.


Please note: The hourly rate for this position is $35.016 and is complemented by a generous benefits package.
