Purpose:

The Material Handler is responsible for operating a forklift, overhead crane, and pallet jack to move, locate, relocate and stack items. The Material Handler is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of a vehicle and may also be required to perform order filling and checking duties.

Essential Functions:

1. Unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations. Efficiently stack and store the product in the appropriate areas.

2. Load, unload, move, stack, and stage product and products using a forklift, overhead crane or pallet jack. Maintain the facility’s equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion, perform preventive maintenance on equipment as required. Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods.

3. Manage flow of containers and material into and out of department

4. Keep appropriate records and reports to guarantee inventory control and security are maintained. Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area. Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse. Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety. Comply with OSHA and MSDS Standards.

5. Assist in plant material handling needs, stocking and remove from inventory

6. Verify components meet quality requirements from incoming inspection and/or from other departments

7. Fill in running production equipment and/or sorting of product

8. Perform necessary quality inspections and follow documented procedures

9. Assist with training as needed

10. Other duties as assigned

11. Changing out dies, staging dies, filling out MRF’s as needed and following the Production schedule

12. Fill out and enter required Epicor information for ordering and moving coils

13. Follow Die storage rack map to look for dies & return dies to the appropriate location

Requirements(Consider the required knowledge, skills, abilities, behaviors, and/or equipment)

1. High School Diploma or GED preferred

2. 1+ years of experience with of direct experience in a similar position

3. Familiarity with material handling equipment

4. Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program

5. Ability to communication effectively, both written and verbal

6. Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team

7. Analytical and problem solving skills

8. Compliance with all health and safety regulations, policies and procedures

9. Must have excellent attendance as well as willingness and ability to work overtime

Physical Summary

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use his/her hands, reach with hands and arms; occasionally sit, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, talk or hear. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 55 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Hearing capacity required to maximize ability to understand all verbal communication and react accordingly.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
