About Our Job
The Denver Parks and Recreation (DPR) Marketing and Communications team is seeking a Community Engagement Associate to provide support for a variety of outreach, engagement, and communications functions for the department.

The City and County of Denver utilizes a hybrid model workplace that balances the responsibilities of public service with the benefits of a flexible work environment. Employees work where needed, at a city site and/or in the field at least three days a week and telecommute remotely at a designated workplace within the State of Colorado the remaining days.
Job duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Plan, manage, and publicize special events that promote increased awareness and understanding of park projects
-
Manage various project-related communications, such as email notifications, social media posts, project sheets, flyers, digital boards, website updates, and construction banners
-
Help provide technical/logistical support for virtual and in-person public meetings, therefore, is expected to be able to work weekends and evenings as needed
-
Support in-the-field outreach efforts such as conducting intercept surveys in parks and distributing flyers to local businesses and residential units
-
Represent the department at special events and community meetings
-
Manage database/distribution lists
-
Strategize on outreach and engagement efforts and support the implementation of efforts
-
Cultivate and maintain positive working relationships in the community, including with park constituencies, Registered Neighborhood Organizations, and partner organizations
About You
We are looking for an organized and confident professional with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Our ideal candidate will have exceptional time management skills, strong attention to detail, and a history of professional workplace communication. Additionally, our ideal candidate will have:

Experience working with a government entity, nonprofit, or corporation to engage community stakeholders
-
Experience creating social media content and digital flyers
-
Experience addressing diverse audiences through both written and verbal communication
-
Experience creating and editing marketing and communications material
-
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel) and Social Media applications (Facebook, Nextdoor, LinkedIn, etc.)

Experience using one or more of the following:

Constant Contact

SharePoint
-
Canva
-
Adobe Creative Suite or other design software
-
Website Content Management Systems
-
Salesforce or other CRM systems
-

Bilingual skills in English and another language preferred

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Relations, Political Science, Public Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field

Experience: Two (2) years of professional level experience performing communications, marketing, and/or public relations

Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements

Licensures/Certification(s): Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment
