Work Schedule: 190-day contract. Teachers are on-duty for 7 hrs., 40 minutes per day but may periodically be required to attend after-school or evening events as a normal expectation of their position.

- Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
- Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injury and damage.
- Instruct students in the knowledge and skills required in a specific occupation or occupational field, using a systematic plan of lectures, discussions, audio-visual presentations, and laboratory, shop and field studies.
- Confer with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems.
- Enforce all administration policies and rules governing students.
- Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress and to determine priorities for their children and their resource needs.
- Guide and counsel students with adjustment or academic problems, or special academic interests.
- Plan and supervise work-based learning experiences programs in business and industry including paid and unpaid internships.
- Provide disabled students with assistive devices, supportive technology, and assistance accessing facilities such as restrooms.
- Meet with other professionals to discuss individual students' needs and progress.
- Select, order, store, issue, and inventory classroom equipment, materials, and supplies.
- Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and professional development sessions to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Sponsor extracurricular activities such as clubs, student organizations, and academic contests; conduct fundraising activities consistent with district policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of secondary school programs.
- Confer with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning, following approved curricula.
- Attend staff meetings and serve on committees, as required.
- Perform student supervisory duties such as assisting in school libraries, hallways and cafeterias, and bus loading and unloading.
- Exhibit knowledge of content and content-related pedagogy.

- Exhibit knowledge of individual students' knowledge and skills, and special needs.
- Plan and set sequential outcomes with rigor and high expectations.

- Perform administrative duties such as assisting in school libraries, hall and cafeteria monitoring, and bus loading and unloading.

- Manage classroom procedures with limited loss of instructional time.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: Bachelor's Degree (four year college or technical school) Required, Field of Study: Education
College degree or certificate of proficiency in the subject or program area preferred.
Experience: No prior experience necessary
Computer Skills: Shall be able to demonstrate an acceptable level of proficiency with computers and programs associated with the position.
Certifications & Licenses: Must have appropriate licensure or certification that is approved by the Arkansas Department of Education or the Department of Career Education.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Most job responsibilities for this position are performed in an indoor school environment that is temperature controlled (heated and cooled) according to the season. Noise levels are mostly low to moderate, however, some classes involving the use of machinery may occasionally exceed moderate noise levels.
