Security Services
The Security Services Department's overall mission is to ensure a safe and secure environment and protect MIT Lincoln Laboratory at all facilities in which staff members perform their mission of research and development. To accomplish this mission, this department formulates and implements policies, plans, and actions designed to protect facilities against threats of vandalism, accidental destruction, and sabotage; and safeguards personnel, classified and unclassified information systems, personal identifiable information, property, and other assets from exploitation and recruitment by foreign intelligence agencies.

MIT Lincoln Laboratory is a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) whose mission is research in support of National Security.

What will you do?
will provide cybersecurity COMSEC support to several independent MIT Lincoln Laboratory’s Special Programs. Core responsibilities include:
- Managing and controlling accountable COMSEC items associated with Special Access Programs teams.
- Supporting the Security Services’ special programs, to include Type 1 Inline Network Encryptors (Taclanes), Universal Secure Voice (vIPer), and other related communications devices and operations.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of related standard security procedures for handling COMSEC and Classified COMSEC Items (CCI) in addition to other classified materials.
- Performing all related functions to properly receive, issue, transfer, account for, and destroy COMSEC items charged to the account to include day to day support for Laboratory SCI activities and other industrial security related duties as assigned.
- Conducting required inventories, inspection, and related support and oversight functions of all accountable COMSEC material and equipment.
- Administering COMSEC and or Cryptographic briefings / debriefings for Laboratory employees and resident subcontractors who access COMSEC and or classified keying material.
- Maintaining required audits and training records for special program staff.

- Complying with all applicable National Security Agency (NSA), Industrial and other applicable security regulations that apply to Laboratory operations.
- Interacting with various internal and external organizations agencies regarding the Laboratory COMSEC requirements.
- Coordinating with governing agencies to obtain rulings, interpretations, and acceptable deviations for compliance with regulations.
- Preparing and submitting time-critical reports to the regarding the possible compromise of COMSEC material to applicable organizations/ agencies.
- Managing SCI/SAP COMSEC account’s Standard Operating Procedures and Emergency Action Plans and customizing plans in accordance with appropriate application
- Ensuring proper installation of secure equipment (e.g. vIPer and Taclane)
- Indoctrinating users in the proper operation and safeguarding of the secure equipment and associated cryptographic key.
- Assisting Government Security Manager by maintaining and participating in government and self-reviews including scheduling with ESC representatives and Groups, assigning of personnel, and drafting memorandums for Groups, Departments, and Divisions
- Overseeing Mandatory Government Request for cryptographic software upgrades
- Conducting required inventories, inspection, and related support and oversight functions of all accountable COMSEC material and equipment
- Complying with all applicable National Security Agency (NSA), Industrial and other applicable security regulations that apply to Laboratory operations.

What you need:
To work with MITLL, all employees must meet certain basic requirements.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance with SCI.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Successfully pass a background check and consent to undergoing a government polygraph examination
Ideally, you will have/Requirements:
The Laboratory values experiences from diverse backgrounds and occupations. The most successful candidates will have the following skills and qualifications.
- An Associate's Degree from an accredited College or University and/or combination of 2+ years of experience in the operation and handling COMSEC
- Detailed understanding of data communication and telecommunication technology. Familiarity with the function of various cryptographic equipment
- Knowledge of the National Industrial Security Operating Manual is required
- Knowledge of information systems and associated business software (e.g., SAP, SIMS, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.)
- Ability to achieve DoD 8570 IAM Level II Baseline Certification (e.g. Security +) within 6 months of appointment is required
- DoD Industrial Security experience is strongly desired, preferably in a compartmented program environment
- Certified training in the field of Communications Security or extensive experience in managing a COMSEC accounts
- Knowledge and experience in computer security as applied to the physical control of classified information.
- Active DoD Top Secret with SCI eligibility highly desired
- Some local and overnight travel may be required
