The City of Aurora has opened testing for the position of Court Detention Technician with the Aurora Police Department.
Duties include processing prisoners, assisting with court and building security, monitoring security for prisoners in the jail and at bond calls, preparing prisoners for transfers to other correctional facilities, providing support for sworn personnel and assisting in related or assigned duties as necessary. The Court Detention Technician communicates with and maintains positive working relationship with all other bureaus and divisions within the Police Department including testifying in court proceedings as needed and performs other duties as assigned.
Must be able to pass job simulation test, polygraph and psychological assessments, interview, background investigation, drug screen and meet the requirements of a physical agility test*. Position requires a high school diploma or G.E.D. Experience in a correctional environment and Spanish bilingual skills are highly desired.
This is a full-time, union position. Beginning salary is $30.25/hour, after 6 months $30.93/hour, after 1 year $31.63/hour, and annual increases thereafter. Excellent benefit package.

• Physical agility test will be administered to measure physical capabilities that consist of a sit and reach test, 1 minute sit-up test, 1 repetition maximum bench press, and a 1.5 mile run.

Candidate must be able to demonstrate the following capabilities:

Males:
Reach 12.8 inches on the sit and reach
23 sit-ups in a minute
Bench press 70% of body weight
Run 1.5 miles in 16min, 21 sec.

Females:
Reach 16.3 inches on the sit and reach
13 sit-ups in a minute
Bench press 43% of body weight
Run 1.5 miles in 18min, 44 sec.
