Essential Attributes:
    • The Mission of the Clerk of Courts has a high degree of public accountability, regular attendance and punctuality is an essential function of this position.
    • Support and comply with the Mission Statement and Code of Conduct of the Clerk of Courts.
    • Maintain a high standard relating to professional conduct and behavior.
    • Work cooperatively with other employees of the work unit and embrace a teamwork approach to completing tasks.
Essential Tasks:
    • Listen earnestly to customer’s, internal and external, requests over the phone, and occasionally in person, responding to questions by providing information regarding the areas of misdemeanor, traffic, civil law, family law, marriage license, passports, and official records.
    • Produce a high quality of work with minimal errors based on departmental standards. Remain focused on the detailed aspects of tasks to ensure overall quality of work.
    • Analyze State Driver’s License information to confirm eligibility for license reinstatement. Research records in CCIS.
    • Prepare civil and criminal court dockets and attend hearings, in person and virtually.
    • Check in Jurors prior to court and attend jury trials.
    • Make certain the court proceedings are recorded and accurately reduce the judge’s ruling to the court minutes.
    • Post all documents from court and prepare any post court documents required.
    • Prepare orders, letters, and memos for Judge and other parties.
    • Scan documents and index, accordingly, meeting all time standards and accuracy requirements.
    • Process efiled documents, perform all follow-up requirements, issue eviction defaults, process garnishment paperwork and close out/balance daily.
    • Assist with scanning/rescanning of all document types and verifying citations.
    • Will occasionally be required to come to work early or stay late, depending on court schedule.
    • Will occasionally be required to travel to other court locations to attend hearings.
    • Being able to work in constant state of alertness and safe manner.
    • Multi-task and perform other related work as required.
Minimum Skills/Qualifications:
    • Graduate of an accredited high school or possess an acceptable equivalency diploma.
    • Must possess computer and technical skills required to perform this position.
    • Ability to communicate professionally in both oral and written form. Must be able to read and write English.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
    • Ability to maintain attention to detail and remain calm in an anxious, intense situation.
    • Ability to work cooperatively with other agencies and as a team member to ensure deadlines are met.
    • Ability to organize, prioritize and manage work to meet necessary time requirements and workload.
    • Ability to accurately type 35 WPM.
    • Ability to remain flexible and apply policies and procedures as they relate to job tasks.
    • Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
    • External candidates must be able to pass an NCIC background check, drug screen and physical exam.
    • Prior knowledge of the court system is preferred, but not required.

    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust to focus.
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
