Job description
The position is responsible for following established Business Continuity Planning and Disaster Recovery methodology in addition to industry standards to assist with the development and administration of Capital's Business Continuity Management and Disaster Recovery programs. These responsibilities ensure that critical business functions and IT systems can be recovered in the event of a disaster. This position is responsible for developing and implementing associated policies, procedures, guidelines and testing. Works with business areas and IT professionals to be able to recover data, if necessary, and provides coordination of both Business Continuity as well as Disaster Recovery activities throughout the year. The Business Continuance/Disaster Recovery Analyst must work with internal and external customers at the recovery site to orchestrate successful testing with a passing scores each year. Responsibilities also include drafting and reporting of test results. To strengthen the understanding of relationships between business services and supporting IT infrastructure and applications the Business Continuance/Disaster Recovery Analyst will also have responsibility for managing the companies Configuration Management Database.
  • Following established Business Continuity Planning methodology and industry standards, develop and implement business continuity policies, procedures, standards and guidelines.
  • Guide business units to maintain the currency of recovery capabilities and continuity plan documents in accordance with the organization’s strategic direction. Provide consultative guidance to the business throughout the process. Drive business impact analysis efforts to validate that business continuity plans have appropriate response procedures to mitigate exposure to regulatory, financial and reputational impacts. disseminate information and train non-technical users on BC/DR processes and procedures.
  • Perform periodic reviews and end to end testing of established business continuity plans and procedures, report findings to management and make recommendations for improvements as needed. Improve plan participation and results on an annual basis. Display awareness of operational requirements, especially in terms of service levels, availability, response times, security and repair times
  • Conduct risk management analysis for review by management and create/maintain contingency and master disaster recovery plan for the company and supported subsidiaries. Assist with facilitating the annual Disaster Recovery test to ensure business applications and functions are recovered and validated as per the pre-defined objectives. Prepare pre-test planning for year and follow organized plan leading all IT areas through exercise to successful execution. Identify weaknesses and any failure points in the plan when completing annual report.
  • Implement, review and maintain policies, procedures and programs for ensuring the security and integrity of company data, databases, information systems, and technology. Monitor the organization's resumption plan including identifying and securing necessary off site resources and ensuring action plans are in place and communicated to IT and operations teams.
  • Review the company’s collection of up-to-date and inter-related configurations and change metrics concerning IT infrastructure and applications. Leverage knowledge of the CMDB to assign ownership of associated tasks for the CMDB owners as they pertain to Disaster Recovery planning. Assist with definition, monitoring and regulation of the consistent structure of the configuration management system, including CI types, CI Classes, naming conventions, required and optional attributes and relationships.
  • Monitor the reconciliation rules and ongoing activities that bring all sources of information together to maintain the CMDB as the organization single source of truth.

Knowledge:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current industry standards for Disaster Recovery planning and Business Continuity process development. Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to gain the confidence of individuals at various organizational levels.
Experience:
  • 2-3 years of experience in a business continuity, disaster recovery and IT/ITSM. Use of the Fusion Risk Management platform and Salesforce experience preferred.
Education and Certifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, or equivalent/related field. Certified Business Continuity Planner (CBCP) or similar industry certification preferred.
  • ServiceNow System Administration Certification and ITIL v4 Certification is preferred but not required.
Work Environment:
Sedentary work involving significant periods of sitting, talking, hearing, keying and performing repetitive motions. Work requires visual acuity to perform close inspection of written and computer generated documents as well as a PC monitor. Working environment includes typical office conditions.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands and fingers, talk, hear, and see. The employee must be able to work over 40 hours per week. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 5 pounds.
Other:
  • Familiar with the CBC business and IT environments in order to effectively support end user requirements and successfully manage BC & DR exercises as well as drive the integration of these events and platforms they are managed with.
    • Remote position with travel time to primary corporate office or alternate recovery site may be required in response to events.
