We are looking for a dedicated Route Sales Representative to join our winning team in Castroville, California. This position is responsible for operating a commercial vehicle to sell, transport and stock and merchandise product to its scheduled destination while staying in compliance with all State and Federal regulations and Producers Dairy Foods policies. The successful candidate must be willing to work weekends as required. The Route Sales Representative will be responsible for demonstrating our Producers Dairy Core Values and carrying out our purpose of Nourishing Lives.

Responsibilities:

  • Approach work with a Continuous Improvement (CI) mindset and serving as an example of living our Producers Dairy purpose and core values.
  • Conducting activities in a safe manner, following company safety guidelines and requirements and proactively addresses any unsafe conditions observed.
  • Operating a commercial truck to safely and efficiently transport a variety of Producers products.
  • Ability to gauge, drive, and adjust to a variety of road and weather conditions including but not limited to: rain, wind, rural and mountain terrain, heavy traffic, etc.
  • Responsible for the safe and timely loading and unloading of product onto and off of the vehicle.
  • Responsible for performing pre-trip, inter-trip, and post trip vehicle inspections and adjustments, preventative maintenance, and minor on road repairs as needed.
  • Adhering to route scheduling protocol, properly ordering authorized product, maintaining proper inventory, setting stores to schematic, managing out of stocks, communicating to customers or manager about service matters, executing promotional displays and properly handling paperwork.
  • Responsible for the daily completion of route deliveries, required paperwork, settlement of routes and inventory, and obtaining payments for deliveries.
  • Prospecting for potential new customers and communicating leads with Sales team.
  • Identifying and acting on new and existing selling opportunities.
  • Identifying and acting upon ASTEC (additional sales to existing customers) opportunities.
  • Effectively handling product rotation to ensure optimized product utilization.
  • Delivering excellent customer service by delighting our customers with every interaction.
  • Identifying less than acceptable product and packing quality.
  • Responsible for ongoing and effective communication with Producers personnel and customers to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must have valid, non-restrictive Commercial Drivers license (Class A or B) and a clean DMV record.
  • At least one year of commercial driving experience.
  • Must be able to have continuous concentration, alertness and attention to detail while operating a commercial vehicle.
  • Excellent communication skills. Ability to effectively interact with customers.
  • Customer service focus.
  • Must not be easily impacted by stressful or non-routine situations. Must be able to consistently stay calm, composed and focused when under pressure.
  • Must have excellent time management skills, dealing with time constraints to deliver product in a timely and safe manner.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills and a high degree of emotional intelligence. Must be able to build productive relationships across all levels of an organization.

Preferred:

  • DSD Experience.
  • Experience with Full Service account management, specifically, managing perishable products.

Pay: $25.52 - $28.35 per hour
