About Jericho Project
Jericho Project is a nationally acclaimed nonprofit ending homelessness at its roots by enabling homeless individuals and families to attain quality housing, employment, and mental and physical health services. The 40-year-old nonprofit serves over 2,500 individuals, including 700 veterans, annually. Jericho has been a key partner in New York City’s initiative to end veterans’ homelessness, and is leading bold, innovative strategies to do the same for families and young adults.

Our programs touch four cornerstones of a person’s life: housing, employment, wellness, and family stability. We create a culture of “moving on” through a foundation of housing and supportive services provided by expert program specialists and case managers.

We have over 550 units of supportive housing including 9 residences in the Bronx and Harlem, as well as scatter-site apartments throughout NYC.

About the Position

The Finance Junior Accountant for Government Contract will have day to day responsibilities in supporting the department’s work with government grants. These responsibilities include assuring that all the proper paperwork for disbursements have been assembled, that the disbursements are appropriate given the grant contract requirements, and that the appropriate information is available for Accounts Payable to make payment.

Responsibilities:

  • Under the Accountant’s and Controller’s direction, review, enter, and process all

Financial Assistance Requests (FAR) and Pay Order Forms, checking for accuracy and eligibility of expenses.

  • Record coded bills and invoices into Fund-EZ accounting system.
  • Assure that checks related to the FARs and Pay Order Forms are signed and mailed.
  • Maintain the filing system for all documents related to the Supportive Services for

Veteran Families (SSVF) grant.

  • Assist in preparing documents for all Veteran’s Affairs (VA) audits.
  • Assist with the accounting work for other grants when time permits.
  • Other projects as assigned by the Finance Manager or Controller.
  • Requires access to: o FileBound o FundEZ

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college preferred.
  • 1-2 year experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Experience with accounting software.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Strong engagement and interpersonal skills.
  • Government grant experience preferred.

Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $50,000.00 annualized. Jericho Project offers a comprehensive benefits package.
