Job description
- Perform repairs on vehicles as per the repair order, adhering to dealership and factory standards with accuracy and efficiency.
- Diagnose the cause of any malfunction and perform repairs accordingly.
- Coordinate with parts department to obtain necessary parts for repair.
- Tag and save parts used in repairs under warranty or as per customer request.
- Inspect the vehicle to determine if any additional safety or service work is required, and communicate findings to the service advisor.
- Communicate to the service advisor if additional work is necessary, if the outlined work is not required, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
- Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
- Conduct road tests on vehicles when required or refer to the test technician.
- Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools and events to stay up to date with industry advancements.
- Keep abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
- Supervise the work of apprentice technicians when assigned.
- Report machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
- Ensure that customers' cars are kept clean and notify the service advisor of any changes to the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
- Keep the shop area tidy and organized.
- Account for and maintain all dealership-owned tools and manuals, returning them to their proper place in the same condition as they were received.
- Understand and comply with federal, state and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal and OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
- Operate all tools and equipment safely.
- Report any safety issues immediately to management.
- Perform any additional tasks assigned.
