POSITION SUMMARY:
Assist in operating various types of slitting and related types of production equipment. Slit to continuous lengths of material to specified widths and to create surface requirements to meet the specifications of customers and the company.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The following is a general description of the essential duties and responsibilities
Assists in various types of slitting and related types of production equipment to meet specifications of customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following are essential duties and responsibilities that must be successfully demonstrated on a daily basis in order to successfully perform on the position:
Reviews production schedule and work orders to determine next jobs to be processed on machine and requirements of job.
Identifies and reports and inaccuracies or problems detected in the schedule or work order.
Communicates to other slitter production team member’s requirements of each job as it arrives at the slitter machine.
Identifies and reports any problems detected in the setup. Helps in correcting any problems in the setup.
Reviews and verifies the setup of the slitter prior to the start of each work order, and initials set up. Print out after completion.
Identifies and reports any problems detected in the setup. Helps in correcting any problems in the setup.
Loads coils on machine uncoiler, expands and feeds material through the pinch rolls into the slitter knifes.
Check incoming coils for all observable defects and for compliance with customer requirements specified on the work order before loading coil on mandrel.
Interrupts operation and reports any defects discovered on material and restocks coil as necessary.
Moves levers and controls to stop, start, the machine and to align material with slitter knifes.
Assists in collapsing recoiler and removes finished slit coils of material off the recoiler mandrel and sends to scales for weighing and to banding / packaging area for tagging and banding prior to shipment. At times Bands and packages and tags coils prior to shipment.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Cont.)
Aware and responsive to work area and slitter production team members for safe operating conditions. Interrupts operation if necessary to assure safe operation. Identifies and reports safety problems and assist in eliminating unsafe conditions.
Assist in the setup and machine operation to assure minimum of scrap generation. Identifies and reports problems that lead to excess scrap creation assists in eliminating excess scrap conditions. Assists in setting up scrap winder on chopper and empties scrap hoppers when full.
Assist with other positions including (Helper / Inspector, Banding Line Coordinator, Banding).
Keep track of inventory on knifes and rubbers to be properly sharpened and ground.
Projects as assigned by management.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
Ability to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
