ANNUAL SALARY: $84,000 - $105,000, commensurate with experience (EM-01, BU:35); Relocation experience available

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Pharmacy Operations Manager provides oversight of all business-related functions and activities of the pharmacy department, while also serving as a liaison to various units, departments and programs within the organization. The position helps ensure the business-related functions and operational efficiencies are maximized in conjunction with the delivery of high-quality clinical care. The Pharmacy Operations Manager reports to the Director of Pharmacy.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides leadership and direction for all pharmaceutical care processes in the pharmacy.
  • Responsible for monitoring inventory levels and effectively managing inventory through implementation of required inventory and drug control measures, purchasing and receiving functions and maintaining records and documentation.
  • Provides analytic support in tracking, forecasting and verifying utilization patterns in the Pharmacy
  • Assists in the development, implementation, management, evaluation, and promotion of pharmaceutical services designed to provide timely, effective, cost-effective, and safe use of medications for patients.
  • Collaborates with department heads to establish revenue and productivity goals; develops proformas for evaluation of prospective programs and or expansions of services.
  • Oversees the business management education, training and support for leaders in areas of responsibility.
  • Provides program analysis on regulatory, budgetary and administrative areas
  • Coordinates recruitment efforts at the pharmacy in collaboration with human resources, conducts interviews and makes final hiring decisions on pharmacy personnel

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in business, health care administration, public administration (or related field). MBA, MHA or MPA, strongly preferred.

Specialized Experience: Four (4) years of professional work experience which demonstrated responsibility for planning and coordinating program activities and solving operational problems involving administrative processes and relationship between programs. Experience in the health care field highly desirable.

MEDICAL/PHYSICAL EXAMINATION REQUIREMENT: Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment physical examination, which includes drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, two-step tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for physical examinations, except the cost for drug screening, shall be borne by the applicant and not the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.

After receiving a conditional offer of employment, all prospective new HHSC employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
