Position Description
Performs administrative duties in the management and coordination of a large specialized project and program. Performs varied and complex administrative duties requiring independent judgment and the application of established policies and procedures. May provide supervision and direction to clerical, paraprofessional or professional staff members.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Directs 50-60 Honors student First-Year Experience Mentors
  • Hires new FYE Mentors on a yearly cycle
  • Plans and implements effective training program for FYE Mentor team yearly
  • Supervises two Honors student Lead Mentors selected by FYE Program Director; maintains consistent and positive communication with FYE Lead Mentors
  • Demonstrates effective, supportive mentoring and leadership techniques for FYE Mentors
  • Prepares, revises, and publishes student support and resource materials for both FYE Mentors and Honors first-year FYE students
  • Creates and evaluates weekly curriculum for HONS 1101 course, attached to all FYE courses
  • Builds and manages Blackboard portal annually for HONS 1101 course
  • Manages the Program budget for FYE
  • Collaborates with college administration in identifying and solidifying FYE course opportunities
  • Maintains open, constructive, and knowledgeable communication with FYE faculty and other campus stakeholders
  • Communicates program updates and needs to college administration
  • Collaborates with other College program directors and administration to evolve program to meet student need, and to evolve other College mentoring programs based on best practices
  • Collaborates with deans and University advancement to communicate the success and needs of FYE to alumni, donors, and friends of the University
  • Participates in regular professional development
  • Performs duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in the area of specialization or closely related field. Four years of related administrative and technical experience. Additional job related education may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters degree
  • Experience in higher education curriculum construction
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and implement a sustained training and support program for a large student team
  • Leadership within a First Year Experience program
  • Demonstrated ability to train and mentor Honors students
  • Understanding of effective curricular and programmatic assessment methods toward the aims of maintaining and improving a well-established program
  • Demonstrated advanced advising and mentoring ability
  • Demonstrated experience in organizing and directing special enrichment projects for Honors College students
  • Administrative or supervisory experience
