The Sickle Cell Disease Strategy Manager (SCDSM) position is part of the Louisiana Office of Public Health's Center for Community and Preventive Health, Bureau of Family Health. This position is the full time program manager of the Sickle Cell Disease Program.

The Sickle Cell Disease Program is responsible for the provision of timely and adequate services to residents of Louisiana diagnosed with this debilitating disease. This consists of overseeing the development and implementation of a comprehensive sickle cell disease state strategy that includes establishing the state sickle cell public health monitoring system, policy and oversight of strategies to ensure the availability of clinical and supportive services for individuals living with sickle cell disease, promotion of standards of care, and facilitation of the state Sickle Cell Commission and related workgroups.

Sickle Cell Strategy Manager Essential Functions

· Develop and implement a strategic work plan to ensure and advance the systems of care for individuals affected by sickle cell disease in the state. Provide leadership and oversight of contracts to advance the identified strategies, including for clinical and supportive services. Develop and implement statewide and region-specific approaches to improve SCD health and supportive services. Maintain current knowledge of SCD best practices to support the health and well-being of individuals affected by sickle cell disease, including linkage to care, wrap around services, advocacy, and promotion of best practices in emergency, primary, and tertiary healthcare settings. Develop and publish reports, informational summaries, policy briefs, and other publications or materials in order to characterize the population and needs and to advance strategies.

· Researches, prepares and manages grants and other awards to support the strategies. Develop and manage budgets and contracts.

· Provide strategic direction and support to the Louisiana Sickle Cell Commission (mandated by Act 117 of the 2013 Regular Session) and associated workgroup and projects. Facilitate quarterly meetings of the Louisiana Sickle Cell Commission. Monitor and respond to legislation and other policies in the state that affect sickle cell services.

· Lead the planning, development and implementation of a comprehensive Sickle Cell Disease public health registry. Ensure effective and comprehensive constituent engagement and input from appropriate clinical and technical expertise. Lead the development and publication of rules for the registry. Lead the planning, development, and implementation of special studies as authorized by law.

· Other duties as requested.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,557.00 - $82,441.00 per year
