Software Engineer IV (Remote Eligible)
Position Summary
Clayton Homes/Vanderbilt Mortgage and Finance is looking for a Software Engineer IV to join a Scrum team of experienced Software Engineers in the modernization and support of applications that support our finance division. As a Software Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work in an Agile/Scrum environment and will have exposure to a variety of technologies that Clayton is adopting/integrating including .Net (C#), AWS, React/Next.js, Salesforce, Oracle ERP Cloud and much more!
About the Team
VMF Remarketing Tech is focused on writing software to assist the Remarketing business with the refurbishing and reselling of homes in Vanderbilt Mortgage and Finance. VMF Remarketing is in the second year of a multi-year modernization effort to rewrite current legacy applications into React.js and C# Core. We follow Domain Driven Design principles and implement microservices for all new development. In the past, users utilized an iOS app that has been replaced with a progressive web app written in React.js, which also serves as the desktop app.
As a Software Engineer on the Remarketing team, you will be a part of multiple modernization projects and adding new features and functionality for the home booking process, trip planning and optimization, customer portal and much more. We intend on moving some projects from virtual machines hosted in AWS to CloudFront and replacing WordPress with Contentful. We are looking for a senior software engineer to help us with this transition to AWS, so AWS experience is a big plus.
Responsibilities:
- Software application design and development using Microsoft Technologies, AWS Cloud development and JavaScript frameworks
- Collaborate with other software developers, architects, business analysts, product owners, operations engineers, security, business representatives, etc.
- Document development requirements for database, applications, and operation system environments
- Present deep technical presentations to the Clayton Community as needed and share knowledge and facilitate the adoption of best practices
- Serve as a technical lead and liaison to business customers and other tech teams
- Turn functional requirements into actionable designs
- Serve as a mentor and develop understanding through hands on technical coaching
- Understand the security implications of design and implementation choices
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent technica l experience in web application development
- Extensive experience using Microsoft C#, .Net Core, ASP.net Core, MVC, Web API
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and the ability to interact with a diverse group of team members, including managers, technology professionals, and subject matter experts
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Humble, hungry, and smart self-starter that can work effectively within time constraints and changing priorities
- Experience using Agile methodologies
- Demonstrates proficiency in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures
- Enjoys working with people and using technology to solve business problems
Preferred Skills:
- Microsoft SQL Server
- Experience building systems leveraging RabbitMQ or related EMB technology
- React/Next.js and the React ecosystem
- Experience with AWS, including EC2, S3, Lambda, and Terraform
- Skilled in integrating with 3 rd party services such as Salesforce or Google APIs
- Understanding of Test Driven Development
