About the Position

Specialty Systems, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Software Engineer with the below described skill set and experience to join our team of technical professionals supporting our Department of Defense customer at the Joint Base MDL-Lakehurst. In this position, you will have a high profile role within the software team supporting the acquisition, development and on-going in-service engineering support of unique Department of Defense systems. As a member of our team you will be able to experience the professional satisfaction of playing a key role in ensuring that our Department of Defense customers’ systems that have a direct impact on our country’s war-fighting and peace-keeping capabilities are performing at optimal levels. This position is located at our customer site location at Joint Base MDL-Lakehurst. In this position, you will work our customer’s Compressed Work Schedule which consists of working four 9 hour days (M-Th) and an 8 hour day (F) for the first week of a cycle followed by four 9 hour days (M-Th) and being off on the second Friday for the second week of a cycle. This results in a 3 day weekend every other week!

Job responsibilities will include:

· Developing/maintaining software modules.

· Performing unit testing of software modules.

· Developing software requirements specifications for application enhancements and future new releases of software.

· Developing software designs that fully meet the software requirements.

· Participating in project team peer reviews of software development work products.

· Perform software development to meet updated system requirements.

· Support the setup and testing of software test and development lab facilities.

· Attend technical meetings to support the Navy program manager for all software.

Position Qualification Requirements:

Education, Certifications and Years of Experience:

· A BS/BA in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM discipline is required. Exceptional technical skills and experience may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.

· 3-5 years experience performing applicable software development. It is preferred that at least 1 year of this experience be on Department of Defense systems.

· Preference will be given to candidates with an active security clearance at the Secret level or higher. Candidates without a security clearance will be considered, however, this may delay the ability to actually begin employment.

Technical:

· Experience developing software applications using object oriented programming with C/C++ and Java.

· Experience with Java swing GUI with SSH client: NETBEANS IDE, Java/Linux targets.

· Experience developing embedded programming with tools such as X86 multicore (QNX), QNX Momentics, ARM (bare metal) is desired..

· Experience developing software applications for complex, software intensive systems for Department of Defense applications is preferred.

· Experience working with GIT, and other code repositories is desired.

· Strong background in linear algebra is desired.

· Experience with control theory, closed loop motor control is desired.

· Experience with digital filter design theory is desired.

Salary Range

This position has a salary range of between $110,000 and $145,000, based on the candidate's match to the skill and experience levels required.
