Truform Manufacturing LLC is located in Dickson Tennessee approximately 40 minutes to the West of Nashville Tennessee and is a TS16949 / ISO9001 supplier to the automotive and appliance industries.

Truform Manufacturing incorporates metal stamping, robotic MIG welding and automated high speed assembly operations in its modern, ultra clean facilities. The recent addition of brand-new Amada CNC Press Brakes, Fiber Lasers and CNC Turret press capability has greatly expanded Truform’s ability to produce superior parts in a “just in time” environment.

Truform Manufacturing is looking for a Journeyman Tool & Die Maker to join our team on the afternoon shift as Team Lead. Hours are 6:00am - 2:30pm Monday - Friday! Overtime when needed.

This position requires the ability to troubleshoot and repair dies while in the press and/or perform die removal and repair work on the bench. The goal is to minimize down-time and optimize production levels and part quality. The would involve the repair and maintenance of progressive, transfer and blanking dies. This position will entail clear communication, initiative, intelligent judgment and proven leadership.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum 12 months of machine tool technology training or equivalent experience
  • Prefer five (5) years experience with metal stamping dies
  • Experience welding common steel and tooling steel is required
  • Automotive stamping experience is preferred
  • Ability to operate tool room equipment (mils, lathes, surface grinders, etc.) and have the ability to troubleshoot progressive tooling problems and recommend solutions
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to read and write English
  • Must be able to read blueprints and use necessary measuring devices to make or modify existing tooling
  • Must perform complex machine work involved with the manufacture of gauging, fixtures and tooling to support manufacturing and engineering functions
  • Must possess the ability to troubleshoot progressive dies in a manufacturing environment
  • Must work to close tolerances ensuring quality workmanship on all tool, gages and fixtures
  • Must work closely with Engineering to ensure all equipment builds are built to exact specifications
  • Must have ability to add, subtract, multiply & divide in all units of measure including fractions & decimals
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with ability to make effective decisions in an expedient manner
  • Have basic computer skills and knowledge of customer engineering specifications
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed to meet customer expectations

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure tooling is able to produce parts to print requirements
  • Maintain inventory of perishable tooling, springs, fasteners and supplies in the T&D area
  • Must make recommendations to continuously improve the company's equipment, tool gages and fixtures
  • Must make sure tools are sharpened and tools are in good working condition before being placed on shelf or in tool drawer
  • Must repair or request replacement parts as needed
  • Provide training and support to less experienced tool makers
  • 5S experience in maintaining a clean and organized work area
  • Other duties as required

Physical demands and work environment:

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must have fine motor skills to manipulate small objects
  • Must be able to climb stairs
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 70 pounds
  • Must be able to bend, squat and twist
  • Must be able to work in a loud environment with ear protection and wear other PPE as required
