In this role, you will:
This position works with students, family, staff, and the district to transition students into the Bridge and helps to prepare them for success in this alternative, therapeutic school. In addition, this position works to transition students into life after the Bridge; from partial day transition to the district to college/career opportunities.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Communicate and coordinate placements, tours and intake paperwork with the district staff. This includes potential students as well as current students returning back to Naperville.
- Communicate with parents of potential students to schedule tours of location.
- Conduct tours of facilities.
- Communicate with parents and student while completing intake paperwork which includes authorization, emergency contact, CPI policies, art therapy, fieldtrip policies, etc.
- Coordinate with District staff and parents to set up and plan time and date for tours.
- Ensure that all aspects of the referral process paperwork is complete for individual student files.
- Coordinate with lead teacher to create student class schedule at the Bridge.
- Meet with new students on the first day to help coordinate schedule and intake meeting with social workers.
- Submit bussing request to the district for student transportation to the Bridge.
- Create a profile of the new student to disseminate information to the staff with regards to student strengths, weaknesses, IEP information, etc…
- Coordinate and communicate with parents, lead teacher, and the district staff the bus schedule for students that transition back to Naperville during the school day.
- Research, coordinate and plan fieldtrips to appropriate college and career opportunities for students.
- Research and review with individual student’s career and college interests.
- Communicate with college, vocational schools for appropriate student tours.
- Work with senior students to complete Financial Aide (FAFSA) for future school financing.
- Work with senior students to complete application materials for future school attendance.
- Work with senior students to answer questions and facilitate future school enrollment and attendance.
- Facilitate potential housing needs for graduating seniors.
- Help to coordinate and implement incentives to advance student achievement.
- Coordinate meals for students and staff participating in fieldtrips and late arrivals.
- Supports the Abraxas philosophy and mission and promotes the Seven Key Principles of care.
Hiring Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree: BA/BS in related field and minimum one year of related experience; or
- Master's Degree: MA/MS in related field and minimum six months of related experience
- Excellent grammar, communication and organization skills.
Non-communicable diseases physical exam.
At least twenty-one (21) years of age.
- Criminal clearances (Act 33 and 34, specific State & child clearances and, if necessary, FBI).
Ability to work overtime as required.
Satisfactory completion of background screening and applicable pre-employment checks; including but not limited to employment and/or personal reference and driving records.
Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
