GENERAL PURPOSE
The purpose of this position is to effectively and efficiently manage the District’s computerized inventory system for textbooks.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

- Ensure adequate record keeping and manage all documentation to confirm proper stock levels and maintain inventory control of District textbooks.
- Pick and process textbook order requests for distribution to schools/departments.
- Check in freight. Receive Purchase Orders and verify paperwork matches purchase orders. Contact requesting department/Purchasing if discrepancies or shortages occur.
- Performs research on inventory balances and corrects as needed.
- Sorts and files all paperwork for delivery of materials to schools and departments daily.
- Undertake quarterly and annual inventory processes before adoptions to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Rotate stock and coordinate the disposal of surplus textbooks.
- Maintains an active “dead stock” program to remove obsolete material in a fiscally responsible manner.
- Provides data to resolve problems and provide customer service to requesting schools or departments.
- Maintain working knowledge of textbook inventory system at all times, research, and implement software system enhancements, as they become available.
- Must possess the ability to learn a new electronic inventory system. The District will be switching from its existing software system to a new Cloud based inventory system in the next 9-12 months.
- Contributes to the overall success of the Distribution Center by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
- High School Degree or equivalent required. Associate degree or higher desired.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working with integrated ordering and electronic inventory control systems.
Certificates, Licenses and Other Special Requirements
- Must pass a Criminal Background Clearance, the results of which must be satisfactory to the District, required.
- Must have a valid CDL Driver’s License or the ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.

- Skill to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to routinely upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
- Knowledge required to perform math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and/or ratios; understand written procedures, write routine documents and speak clearly; understand multi-step written and oral instructions.
- Knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include safety practices and procedures; operating equipment used in warehouse/delivery activities, preparing and maintaining accurate records; and operating standard office equipment and certain software applications.
- Skill based competencies required to perform the functions of the job, including operating equipment and materials used in industrial maintenance; adhering to safety practices; preparing and maintaining accurate records.
- Ability to read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Work environment is primarily inside, where the noise levels are moderate. Temperatures in the non-air conditioned warehouse can be very warm during the summer months. Work can also include outdoor responsibilities with exposure to weather conditions.
- The work is heavy work that requires exerting up to 80 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Must possess the physical ability to perceive the nature of sounds, make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, express or exchange ideas by the spoken word, substantial movements (motions) with the hands, wrists, and/or fingers, and discern letters or numbers at a given distance.
- Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, manual dexterity, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity and walking.
