Position Overview

The Department of Human Services is seeking to hire an Account Technician II for the Office of Fiscal Services located in Springfield, Illinois to independently perform technical accounting work involved in the maintenance of agency cash receipt balances. Assists with depositing, posting and reconciling various funds. Serves as lead worker.

Job Responsibilities

1. In conjunction with the Accountant Supervisor, assists in the coordination of the Social Security Interim (SSI) assistance program between the Federal Social Security Administration, State townships and individuals.

2. Receives, analyses, and enters, into the Statewide accounting system, cash receipts from contracted private collector and Office of the Comptroller involuntary withholding payments for verification and deposit into Treasury held funds.

3. Processes MED D receipts including timely deposit of checks, entry into the Statewide automated accounting system and compilation of reports for data entry by contractor.

4. Serves as designated lead worker.

5. Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college and one (1) year of technical accounting experience OR four (4) years of related clerical bookkeeping experience.

Conditions of Employment

1. Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends and holidays on a rotation basis.

2. Requires the ability to serve on an on-call basis.

3. Requires the ability to left up to 50 pounds unassisted.

4. Requires ability to acquire and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate.

5. Requires the ability to physically restrain patients as necessary to prevent injury to patient or others.

6. Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers and basic computer skills.

7. Requires the ability to travel.

8. Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.

9. Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.

10. Requires the ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.
