Position Summary
Assist in the daily operations of the Finance & Administration department.
Specific Duties
The Accounting Associate will be required, among other tasks, to:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Accounts Payable
- Enter/review coding of all invoices in the PN3 application.
- Perform weekly check-runs and wire transfers, and as needed.
- Maintain electronic vendor information including W-9’s in Pn3.
- Monitor and reconcile internal/external expense reports and invoices.
- Prepare, distribute, and reconcile corporate credit card expense reports.
- Review and reconcile the 1099 amounts in SL monthly.
- Prepare and submit 1099 and 1096 forms yearly.
- Accounts Receivable
- Prepare incoming check batches as needed.
- Make bank deposits as needed.
- Enter all cash receipts and bank transactions into the system.
- Provide supporting documentation for detailed invoices.
- Monthly Close/Audit Support
- Provide support in reconciling accounts for the monthly close process.
- Provide support in the yearly audit and budget preparation.
- Reconcile membership revenue monthly.
- Maintain electronic file of bank reconciliations and disbursements.
Required Skills
The Accounting Associate must have knowledge and experience in Accounting, ideally with a strong background in Finance & Administration and has demonstrated competencies in the above areas. In addition, the ideal candidate will possess:
- Concentration in Accounting preferred.
- Must be detailed oriented and have strong organizational skills
- General understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP).
- Bookkeeping experience and accounting software experience.
- Proficiency in spreadsheet applications (Excel) and Microsoft Word.
- Experience with database applications.
- Good written and oral communications.
Training and Credentials
- Undergraduate 4yr degree in Accounting REQUIRED.
Physical requirements:
- The ability to lift (up to) 25lbs.
- Ability to commute to the office in Alexandria, VA.
- Up to date on COVID Vaccine (with proof)
