The Accounts Payable Business Analyst is a career professional with knowledge of Accounts Payable and Purchase-to-Pay principles, practices, concepts, and theories. The incumbent will assist the Accounts Payable department in leading the execution and completion of special projects involved with the transformation, innovation, and the overall strategic direction of the Accounts Payable department and the company. The incumbent demonstrates a high level of business acumen and can see the big picture, as well as manage/assist with project details. The incumbent routinely identifies improvements to Accounts Payables day-to-day, strategic and integrated business processes and procedures and supports the Accounts Payable Manager with insights and analysis for decision-making purposes. This position requires someone who is a strategic thinker, developing sustainable solutions and leading change for the future of the department and company.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the planning, scheduling, execution, and monitoring of project-related tasks and ensure the completion of milestones meet/exceed expectations.
- Participate in the monthly Asset Management and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) Reporting Process which entails working with various departments to create reports, understand and review content for accuracy, completeness, and ensure timely submission of the report.
- Lead and assist in innovation projects including requirements gathering, business case development, technology selection, implementation, end user adoption, and governance or solutions developed in-house; ensure business expectations, goals, and objectives are understood and met in these projects.
- Maintain strong internal relationships with business partners, team members, and senior management to effectively contribute strategic decisions that require coordination across multiple business functions.
- Build strong cross-functionality partnerships (e.g. Supply Chain, Treasury) to conduct root cause analysis and end-to-end data analytics to identify data validation, process/system improvement, process documentation, and automation opportunities within Accounts Payable, Procure-to-Pay (P2P), Goods Receipt/Invoice Receipt (GR/IR), and Cash Management that drive accuracy, efficiency and innovation.
- Review and document business processes in relation to departmental software (e.g. SAP, OpenText). Highlight gaps; recommend business process revisions to enhance, streamline, and automate current processes/manual tasks; and provide support to ensure sustainable system accuracy and efficiency.
- Proactively seeks opportunities for self-development and continuous leaning, to deliver successful project outcomes with a customer-center approach.
- Conduct research on best practices, leading trends and new innovations in the accounts payable and utility industry and analyzes applicability to Cleco.
- Assist the Accounts Payable Manager with the development and implementation of appropriate metrics, processes to improve decision making, efficiency improvements, and drive continuous improvement of project/tasks; consider future implications beyond an immediate problem.
Qualifications
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor’s in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field; or Masters degree
- 3+ years of related experience
- Report to the Pineville General Office Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday every week
- Experience with Financial Systems (e.g. SAP, Open Text) preferred
- Experience with Microsoft tools and applications required
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, planning, and project management skills
- Core knowledge of Finance principles, theories and concepts, and knowledge of related Local and Federal laws and regulations related to AP
- Strong organization skills and delivery of assignments in a timely manner
- Strong interpersonal, communications, negotiation, writing, speaking and active listening skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks/assignments and deliver high-quality outcomes
- Willingness and ability to learn and champion new technologies on the job
- Ability to exercise judgment with little direction/guidance but also knows when to escalate
- Proficient at functioning effectively within a team environment, present ideas and opinions in a respective and collegial manner
