What You Do and How You Do It:
The Accounts Payable Manager is a results-oriented member of the Accounting Department’s management team. As a highly skilled working manager of a professional team comprised of eight Accounts Payable staff members, you will have a wide range of responsibilities. These include:
  • Supervising, training, and evaluating the work of assigned employees engaged in the timely and accurate recording and processing of payments for all goods and services used by County government and Chesterfield County Public Schools
  • Planning, coordinating, supervising, and monitoring all accounts payable activities including 1099 reporting
  • Establishing and maintaining internal controls and procedures to protect assets, accuracy, and reliability of information as well as compliance with laws and regulations
  • Recommending and implementing changes to policies and procedures to ensure integrity of the accounts payable system and all related processes
  • Leading the development and implementation of new accounts payable systems, reporting requirements, system modifications/enhancements and process improvements
  • Researching, analyzing, and resolving complex problems presented by subordinates, County and Schools leadership, management and staff, and vendors to include interpreting County policies
  • Maintaining relationships and interacting with upper management and external customers as well as internal customer departments to integrate solutions that meet the County's goals both financially and operationally; perform other work as required.

Here’s What You Need:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or public administration, or a related field; five years of progressively responsible experience in accounts payable or accounting to include three years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

You must have excellent analytical and decision-making skills; and effective communication skills for collaborating at all levels in a complex organization. Effective time management and the ability to prioritize competing priorities is an essential skill. In addition, outstanding customer service skills are required for this position. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
