As a member of our FAA Enterprise Network Services (FENS) team, you will bring your passion, education and experience to this critical mission and interact directly with decision-makers and government staff who are tasked with ensuring the nation's air transportation system's underlying communications infrastructure is secure and always available. As a Transition Project Control Coordinator/Specialist, you manage the data gathering, establish the ‘ground rules’ for Microsoft Project update criteria in conjunction with the Transition Deputy and Business Operations team. You work directly with each Transition Project manager by workgroup to establish a project schedule, progression and validation review on a weekly basis through the Transition lifecycle. You will ensure Project Managers have incorporated the business partners into their respective workgroups with appropriate assignments, a designated Project manager/lead from each partner, and clarify roles for participation in these sessions for each contributor to schedule progression.

You work directly with the Business Operations and PMIS team to ensure the project managers, engineering, operations, service delivery, testing and evaluation, business partners, and FAA are updating status/actions correctly. You will identify opportunities, risks, and critical paths for our Transition and Program leadership team to leverage for improvements in outcomes.

Additionally, the ability to access our internal ‘back end’ systems (e.g. ETMS, ESP, E-Z Status, PQ, Salesforce, nSAP, SevOne, etc.) will be beneficial as the requirements and deliverables evolve.

Key Responsibilities

The Project Control lead has the following key responsibilities:

  • Execute and maintain project management processes in the areas of project schedule, quality management, communications management, risk/issue management, and change management.

  • Develop and maintain project schedules and calendars with the input and assistance of transition leads

  • Facilitate team meetings, providing meeting minutes and action items where needed

  • Build strong communication channels with internal stakeholders in various departments: Sales, Professional Services, IT Operations, Development teams, Release Management, Networking

  • Track tasks assigned to the project team and prepare regular status reports

  • Responsible for tracking project changes and producing updated schedules

  • Influence continuous improvement of project management methodologies including: assessment of project delivery capabilities, gathering and reporting performance metrics, establishing corresponding targets, and measurement of on-going progress.

  • Ensure smooth communication within the project team and other cross-functional teams

  • Interface with internal/external stakeholders on a regular basis

  • Prepare and document Day 1/Day 2 support documentation and acceptance criteria.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.

  • 4+ Years proven Project Management experience with proven track record and experience with deploying and delivering complex solutions.

  • Enterprise Client Experience

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office product suite, including PowerPoint, Excel & Word and Microsoft Project

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • ITIL V3 Certification Desired

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification Desired

  • Broad Verizon product experience

  • Financial Business acumen

  • Supplier Management

  • Proficiency in customer enablement tools

  • Ability to manage and negotiate with required internal and external organizations

  • Able to write documentation and communicate effectively with team-members;

  • Able to work in a structured manner and according to processes and procedures;

  • Demonstrated experience with verbal & written communications.
