The Communications Center Administrator is responsible for all administrative functions to keep this hub of information up and running!

- This position is classified as FLSA exempt; therefore it is not eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of a 40-hour work week
Summary of Essential Responsibilities
- Ensure the Communication Center is properly equipped and ready to support both day-to-day and emergency operations.
- Ensure the effective and efficient operations of all Communication Center technical systems (CAD, VESTA, ENS, VEOCI, RegJIN, etc.) comply with all applicable federal, state and local regulations and statutes at all times.
- Ensure daily operations and training are managed effectively.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive training and certification program for the dispatchers.
- Develop and continually update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Manage and maintain the Port's Emergency Notification System, including ongoing updating of notification groups.
- Interact and coordinate effectively with all internal and external users and customers e.g., Port Police and Fire, IT, BOEC, Operations, Security, TSA, FAA, PANG.
- Improve the efficiency and processes of the Communication Center including Standard Operation Procedures (SOP's).
- Assist the Senior Manager of Security Operations Support in areas such as:
- Address deficiencies and implement disciplinary procedures.
- Address contract grievances in a timely manner.
- Assist with labor agreement strategies and negotiation.
- Assist the hiring process for dispatchers.
- Interact with stakeholders and be a positive liaison for all Communication Center issues.
- Represent the Port, Police Department, Fire Department and Communication Center on Port, local, regional and National working groups and at meetings.
- Effectively manage administrative tasks, including budget, payroll, purchasing and capital projects; ensuring accountability and compliance with Port policies and practices.
- Perform statistical analysis and gather data for investigations, quality assurance and records requests (Internal and FOIA).
Minimum Requirements/Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor's degree in Business/Public Administration, Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement, Communications or a related discipline.
- Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in emergency communications or the equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience is required.
- Ability to pass and maintain a Criminal History Records Check and a Security Threat Assessment for a PDX Security Badge is required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain CJIS certification is required.
- A valid state's driver's license (preferred).
- Experience as a Public Safety dispatcher is preferred.
- Dispatcher certifications of one of the following is preferred:
- APCO (Association of Public-Safety Communication Officials)
- EMD (Emergency Medical Dispatcher) or
- ENP (Emergency Number Professional)
- Dispatcher certifications of one of the following is preferred:
