The Graduate Recruiter/Pre-Admissions Advisor, Master of Science Business Analytics (MSBA) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) at UW Tacoma Milgard School of Business serves as a member of a professional team providing comprehensive student services for graduate students in the Milgard School of Business and the University of Washington Tacoma. This position works with faculty graduate program directors, the UW Graduate School, and other members of the Milgard graduate student services team to provide a holistic admission experience: helping students clarify their academic interests, preparing for admission to the graduate degree and helping them identify how the graduate degree fits into their long term career plan. The graduate recruiter is responsible for developing and implementing an annual recruitment plan for the MSBA and MBA programs and provides subject expertise for Milgard School efforts in overall brand awareness. Additionally, this position works closely with the UW Graduate Enrollment Management Services (GEMS) team to ensure application completion, including domestic and international GPA calculations and verification of English proficiency requirements for international applicants.

Duties & Responsibilities

Recruitment and advising - 55%
  • Create and deliver outreach events resulting in successful recruitment of students to the MSBA and MBA programs;
  • Develop and implement annual recruitment plan for outreach activities, application workshops, and other recruitment/retention related areas; prepare presentations, videos, etc.;
  • Prepare annual recruitment report and recommend strategies for future recruitment;
  • Meet with prospective students, discuss plans for successful application, plans for completing any pre-admission prerequisite requirements;
  • Maintain list of programs/schools that offer pathways for meeting the MSBA prerequisites;
  • Represent MSB at college and public information events;
  • Work collaboratively with other UW departments to promote effective and creative recruitment activities;
  • Assist in developing and updating recruitment materials including brochures, website, social media presence, and other recruitment avenues;
  • Advise prospective students and provide information regarding MSBA and MBA degree programs, program and UW Graduate school admissions requirements, financial aid programs, timelines, etc., and refer students as appropriate;
  • Make connections with community-based organizations such as local analytics consortiums, local incubators for collaboration opportunities;
  • Responsible for tracking metrics related to applicants, increasing inquires, applications, and conversion from student to applicant;
  • Collaborate with other UWT graduate program advisors/recruiters to promote UWT graduate programs;
  • Work collaboratively with graduate program advisor for a smooth transition from pre-admissions advising to program advising. Some local and regional travel required multiple times per month.

    Admissions Processing-35%
  • Provide initial review of MBA and MSBA applications ensuring program and Graduate School admission requirements are met;
  • Lead the program admission process, preparing the information needed for the faculty to make admission decisions, and ensure the admission decision process moves forward efficiently;
  • Work with the UW Graduate School on admission petitions;
  • Follow up with applicants to obtain information needed for a thorough and holistic review of the application;
  • Make recommendations for updates to the application and overall admission process;

    Student Worker Supervision-5%
  • Hire and train social media support student worker;
  • Evaluate and provide feedback to student employee’s work.
    Milgard School of Business Administrative Activities-5%
  • Serve as ad-hoc member of the Milgard Graduate Program Council
  • Serves as member of the Milgard School of Business staff team effectively collaborating on events and other school initiatives
  • Serve on Milgard and University committees as needed
  • Present at Milgard faculty and executive council meetings regarding undergraduate student experience as requested

    Other duties as assigned

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in business, education, social sciences, or a related field
  • At least 3 years’ experience in admissions, recruitment, academic advising, student services, or student counseling in a higher education setting.
  • Attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills.
  • Ability to understand, apply, and communicate school and University policies.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of team.
  • Approachable, with a desire to support and enhance the student body within the Milgard School of Business.
  • Experience using computer programs such as MS Word, Access, Excel, Teams, and Zoom.
  • Must be comfortable with collecting and interpreting data.
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master’s degree in Student Development Administration, Counseling, Higher Education Administration, Business or a related field.
  • Experience and knowledge of student development theory and higher education admissions.
  • Knowledge of social media and marketing concepts.
  • Ability to use data to make informed recruitment decisions.
  • Experience in or formal knowledge of business-related fields.
