What is Emerest Adult Family Living?

Emerest AFL is a program that helps elderly individuals (65 or older) remain living at home instead of relying on long term care such as assisted living or nursing homes. This program enables family members or friends acting as a primary caregiver, to get paid to care for a loved one in their own home.

Emerest Home Care of Connecticut understands the sacrifice being made by family and friends to care for a loved one at home. Through AFL, you can receive direct compensation for your hard work while keeping your loved one safe in the comfort of their own home.
Who is Eligible?

• Client must be 65+ and currently receiving benefits under Title 19 (Medicaid) in Connecticut

• *****YOU MUST LIVE IN THE SAME HOUSE AS THE CLIENT IN NEED OF CARE*****.

Who Can be an AFL Caregiver?

The uniqueness of AFL is that clients can choose their own caregiver. However, please note the caregiver must:

• Live in the same house as the client in need of care.

• Cannot be a legally liable relative such as a legal spouse or POA.

What is the Process?

Once Emerest receives approval to begin services, you will be contacted by one of our trained professionals. They will set up an appointment to conduct an initial assessment in the home of the client.

After the initial assessment is completed, the level of care will be determined and the program can officially start! The caregiver will be trained and receive on going 24/7 support from our Emerest professional team. Throughout the program, there will be weekly follow-ups and bi-monthly nursing visits.

How Does the Caregiver Get Paid?

Emerest AFL caregivers are compensated based on the level of care that is determined by the initial assessment. Emerest understands that caregiving is a labor of love, that is why Emerest provides the best rates in the state. Emerest AFL Caregivers receive weekly tax-free payments.
