Job Description:
The Alloy-Finish Grinder, working with little or no supervision, will be required to blast, grind and polish metal parts to specified grade or finish, and shape using various grinding and polishing equipment and tools.

Selects and uses correct wheels or buffs in terms of: type, size, shape and abrasive; applies any/all in proper sequence.

Processes ferrous and non-ferrous metals. May be required to work with glass, plastics, and composite materials.

Performs routine inspection such as leak detection, hydro test, and dye penetrant. Will grind or gouge flaws for rewelding, balance agitators and bevel plates and heads with mechanical trimming machine and grinder. May fit, solder, or spot weld parts together. May assist and/or perform assembly and testing the limited types of mechanical or fabricated parts to produce sub-assemblies or completed units. As needed, may paint parts and units.

Load and unload trucks, boxes and skids or otherwise protect and prepare parts and units for shipment. Proficiency in the use of various material handling equipment such as cranes, forklift and hand truck will be required to move material as needed. May operate basic machines such as shear, drill press, speed lathe, hydraulic press, etc., as required. Minor preventative maintenance duties may be required to repair equipment and hand tools. This position may work anywhere throughout the shop. May set up tanks for inspection and hydro test.

Responsible for Quality, Safety and Housekeeping in their job assignments and follows current SOPs.

Certifications/Requirements: Crane Operation, Tow Motor, Scooter, Respirators

Housekeeping: Keeps area clean and puts tools away

Attachment: Physical and non-physical aspects
