Position Title: Apprentice Window Cleaner
In October 2002, Mark Palmer founded Mark T. Palmer Company, a professional window cleaning Company serving Napa Valley and surrounding communities.
The Company provides window cleaning, chandelier cleaning, glass restoration,
& gutter cleaning services for the residential, commercial & post-construction markets.
We typically work outdoors and indoors in beautiful aesthetic surroundings as our clientele is comprised of high-level individuals and companies that have beautiful properties and demand exemplary presentation and care of these properties by their service providers.
Our start time each day varies by client requirements and employee preference.
Our field employees prefer to start each day as early as possible to give them- selves more time in the day to attend to their lives
This position will fill a need the Company has to meet the increasing demand the market has for its services. The successful candidate will be trained to be certified by the International Window Cleaning Association (IWCA) Safety
Certification program. The successful candidate will also be trained to become certified as an aerial boom lift & scissors lift operator. This position will initially work in the field with a Professional Window Cleaner Supervisor while being trained and ultimately groomed to achieve the position of Professional Window
Cleaner.
Responsibilities:
▪ Report to Company Professional Window Cleaner Supervisor;
▪ Maintaining organization of Company work vehicle;
▪ Keeping Company work vehicle clean inside & out;
▪ Stocking Company work vehicle at the start of each work day with all equipment, tools, & supplies needed for the day’s work accounts;
▪ Preparing jobsites for work efficiency by strategically setting up equipment, tools, & supplies;
▪ Securing all ladders on Company work vehicle ladder racks;
▪ Cleaning windows including screens, frames, tracks, & glass up through three stories;
▪ Cleaning chandeliers;
▪ Cleaning gutter systems;
▪ Cleaning awnings;
▪ Operating aerial boom lifts and scissor lifts to clean windows after being certified as an operator at the company’s expense;
▪ Clean gutters up through three stories;
▪ Loading Company work vehicle at the end of each job with all equipment, tools, & supplies used on the job in a neat, organized manner;
▪ Cleaning up each worksite after completion of rendered services;
▪ Unloading equipment from Company work vehicle at Company shop as directed by the supervisor;
▪ Service work vehicle i.e. changing engine oil, lubing suspension, changing air & oil filters;
▪ Washing & detailing work vehicle as directed by the supervisor;
▪ Must be available to travel up to seven days a year at Company’s expense to receive job related training.
Qualifications:
▪ Fluent in speaking, reading, & writing in the English language;
▪ Must possess a valid California Drivers License;
▪ Excellent customer service & communication skills;
▪ Must be able to setup, lift, and move up to 71 pound/21 foot sectional ladders on your own;
▪ Must be able to comfortably work up to 35 feet above the ground on ladders;
▪ Must be able to, with the assistance of a co-worker, load/unload by lifting overhead to/from van roof racks, carry and setup a 40 foot/120 pound extension ladder several times a day;
▪ Must be able to carry a 25 lb. bucket up ladders to roof tops 4-5 times a day;
▪ Must be able to bend down, lift, and carry 25 lb. bucket approximately 40 times a day;
▪ Must be able to repetitively use both arms, wrists and hands to work window cleaning squeegees, scrubbers, and brushes the entire day;
▪ Must be able to work on roofs;
▪ Must pass, if required by Company, a post offer/pre-employment physical capabilities test administered by a Company retained consultant;
▪ Must pass, if required by Company, a post offer/pre-employment drug test administered by Company retained consultant;
▪ Upon being hired, successful candidate must provide documentation proving they are legally permitted to work in the United States.
