What you'll do:
- Performs the various workflows associated with medical record document scanning and indexing.
- Collects paper charts from various CMA and storage facilities/locations.
- Contacts storage facilities/locations to order records stored at their facilities.
- Enter relevant data and information into appropriate systems/tools (e.g., spreadsheets) that can be utilized for reports.
- Ensures accuracy of work by reviewing patient names and medical record numbers on all medical records and documents to ensure that all the information is for the designated patient.
- Readies items to be scanned into the EMR as necessary. Ensures the appropriate medical record number and/or patient identifiers are on all documents to be scanned.
- Scans appropriate documents, ensures the documents upload correctly into EMR and code/label appropriately.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of all medical records by ensuring that no unauthorized persons have access to a patient's medical record. Upholds the confidentiality policies of CMA.
- Requires the ability to use a document scanner to scan documents and a computer and mouse to index documents appropriately into the electronic medical record.
- Finds patient names, medical record numbers and/or information by using the computer.
- Responsible for keeping the medical record files in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Notifies Manager and/or Director with any problems related to patient medical records.
- Adheres to CMA policies and procedures.
- Attends all required in-service programs and employee informational meetings as designated by Manager.
- Maintains level of productivity as established for the department.
- Assists in other duties as designated by the Manager.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Must be able to work well with others.
- Maintain a courteous and professional relationship with those persons in which contact is made, either in person or over the phone.
- High school diploma or equivalent combination required.
- Must be able to alphabetize.
- Must be able to drive to various locations to collect records.
- Active driver's license or ability to obtain a NYS driver's license is required.
