Our client is a Los Angeles-based property management company, specializing in revitalizing

apartment buildings in some of the city’s best neighborhoods. We are looking for a driven and intelligent person to complement their team.

The Assistant Controller will be an analytical and technologically skilled accountant that assists with management of accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, banking, taxes, financial statements, and budgeting within the organization. Property Management experience preferable.

Key Responsibilities:

· Oversee accounting and banking records, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance

· Perform day to day financial transactions, including verifying, posting, and recording accounting data

· Verify discrepancies and resolve account issues

· Participate in month and year-end closing activities

· Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely

manner

· Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by filing financial reports/tax

returns, making payments according to schedule, and licensing

· Assist with tax return preparation for LLCs, Partnerships and Corporations

· Prepare annual 568,3522,3536,3893,1099,1098 forms

· CAM review and analysis

· Review escrows, exchanges

· Create owner financial statements including REOs

· Review outside partners financials and properties

· Quarterly and annual bank reporting

· Other duties as assigned

Educational/Requirements:

· Minimum Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting

· 5 years’ experience in relevant accounting experience

· CPA highly preferred

· Strong excel skills.

· Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

· Proven skills sufficient to lead, direct, evaluate, and manage reports and team members

· Ability to work independently and take initiative

· Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents.

· Ability to solve problems.

· Keen analytic, organization and critical thinking skills which allows for strategic data

interpretation vs. simple reporting

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key

data; excellent problem-solving skills

· Self-starter and a team player

· Hands-on experience working with general ledgers

· Knowledge of data analysis, budgeting, and account reconciliations

· AppFolio experience highly preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $130,000.00 - $155,000.00 per year
