JOB SUMMARY: The Assistant Director is responsible in conjunction with the other Family Services Assistant Director for the Family Life, the David Jon Louison Family Center, the Bolton Place Center and the Community Based Housing programs. This includes: buildings, staffing and families, and any administrative duties within the Family Services Branch.
- PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure a warm and welcoming environment by supporting the maintenance and ensuring the safety, security, and cleanliness of the building and grounds.
- Train and supervise staff team. Responsible for staff performance evaluations of supervisees.
- Collaborate with program staff to assist families with their needs, overcome barriers, and assist with developing self-sufficiency goals
- Support all case management and coordination of strength based services for current and graduated families and their children.
- Provide supervision to families and to staff
- Collaborate with the Director to identify staff training needs and to facilitate training programs and staff supports.
- Schedule staff coverage for all shifts and program activities.
- Respond to emergency situations as needed. May include evening, weekend and holiday hours if circumstances warrant. Create on-call coverage of program.
- Coordinate the drop-off and pick-up of donations for the specific site. Work with Family Services staff team regarding donations.
- Participate as part of management team of the Family Services Branch and assist with daily operations of the Family Life Center, David Jon Louison and Bolton Place as needed
- Oversee Family Services staff team and support/monitor all volunteer activities including, but not limited to, School on Wheels, Horizons for Children, after-school programs, area college mentors, holiday and special events.
- Develop and maintain a warm, welcoming environment within all centers by supporting staff and families in a positive, strength based manner
- Maintain up-to-date client and staff records in locked file cabinet
- Participate in staff meetings, weekly clinical meetings, community meetings and trainings as requested by the Director
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors Degree in Social Services, Human Services, or Related Field
- 5 years experience with children and families, program development, and community organizing
- A minimum of three years of supervisory/management experience required
- Experience with in-crisis youth and families
- Prior success with non-profit housing organizations and community collaborations
- Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
- Additional skills should include correct grammar, punctuation, spelling and business writing
- Shoveling to accommodate needs
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to sit down, stand up, walk up and down stairs and bend over during the course of the day.
- Must be an insured and licensed driver able to travel for occasional home visits, transportation of clients, and provider meetings, as well as able to pass pre-placement drug screen.
