The Assistant Director of Cohort Learning Programs (CLP) is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Dean of Student Success at Seattle Central College. This position supervises, directs, and coordinates the overall functions and activities of the Cohort Learning Programs, providing leadership in implementation and coordination of activities and services for students in our cohort programs. The Assistant Director will be responsible for developing, maintaining and improving cohort programs that address closing the opportunity gap such as the Umoja Black Scholars program at Seattle Central College. This position collaborates with personnel in Admissions/Registration and Records, credentials evaluators, Testing, TRIO, International Programs, Info Central, Workforce Education, Instructional divisions, campus resources. The Assistant Director will be responsible for allocation of resources and program results for CLP, and shares responsibility for the formulation of institutional policy related to CLP.

What you will be working on:
- Responsible for the overall operation, development, implementation, and coordination of services for our CLP such as the Umoja Black Scholars program.
- Assess and evaluate the college's equity focused programs to ensure high impact practices are shared and implemented
- Coordinate activities from intake to completion focusing on key experiences and activities such as new student orientation, early alert, and mentoring components.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to provide an integrated holistic approach to retention.
- Communicate consistently with regional Umoja representative, Umoja Scholars, and the Steering Committee.
- Work with Central's Office of Strategic Partnerships department to develop and implement marketing and recruitment strategies for relevant programs.
- Convene and facilitate Umoja Advisory Board meetings.
- Make hiring recommendations, train, supervise, and provide ongoing professional development for CLP employees.
- Coordinate with Institutional Effectiveness to compile data for assessment and program improvement.
- Integrate partnerships with local community-based organizations and institutions.
- Serve on appropriate committees such as the Seattle Central Guided Pathways Work Groups, Seattle Central's Student Services Council, Strategic Enrollment Management and other committees appropriate.
- Participate in development opportunities and college efforts that develop your skills and commitment to student success, especially for historically underserved students of color.
- Carry out work collaboratively in ways that prioritize the needs of students and maintain a healthy community.
What you bring as a candidate: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience)
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education, student development, psychology, human relations, or related field and two or more years of progressive leadership such as program development or managerial experience OR equivalent six or more years of experience.
- Demonstrated experience with working effectively with persons from diverse backgrounds, such as racial, ethnic, religious, linguistic, gender, age, sexual orientation, socio-economic, and with diverse physical and learning disabilities.
- Two or more years of professional level experience in counseling, academic advising, event planning, student affairs, orientation/first-year experience, leadership development, diversity initiatives, and/or staff training, career services, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of theoretical frameworks that guide work with first-year college students and student leaders including retention theory, student development theory, identity development theory, and social and cultural capital; an ability to align scholarship with practice experience working with and developing programs for first-year students and leaders.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines while being attentive to detail.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity and proficiency with various technologies, including but not limited to student database systems and student success technologies.
- Ability to utilize professional judgement in a publicly-funded program.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform range of physical motions, exerting up to 25 pounds; lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds; standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, kneeling, squatting, and stooping; and traversing up and down stairs.
