JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for assisting in the planning, organizing and directing the overall operation of the Imaging Services Department. Ensures compliance with patient care quality standards as it relates to the care provided to all age groups of patients ranging from newborn to elderly. Maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in QI activities. Assures competency of all personnel. Assists in formulating the budget. Maintains efficient and effective department operation while requiring compliance with all JCAHO, State, Federal and Local Regulatory Laws, standards and protocols. Supervised by the Radiology Director.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assists with Hospital administration on planning, organizing, and directing Imaging Service Operations and ensuring compliance with all Local, State and Federal Regulations.

Makes daily rounds in Imaging Services to judge effectiveness of operation, utilization of personnel and supplies, and general ethical and professional atmosphere.

Assist with initiating improved methods of imaging services and directs their implementation.

Communicates appropriately and clearly to Physicians, Imaging staff and Administration.

Interacts professionally with patient/family. Consults other departments, as appropriate, to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities.

Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.

Delegates authority and responsibility to the Imaging Services personnel.

Establishes and maintains standards of performance.

Assists with the department’s in-service training.

Promotes effective intradepartmental and interdepartmental relationships.

Assists with initiating Imaging Services procedures and maintains and interprets hospital policies and procedures.

Attends and participates on hospital committees, as appropriate.

Is responsible for monitoring and evaluation of performance improvement and QI activities.

Provides staff education with an emphasis on the organizational performance quality improvement program.

Promotes and advances Hospital-community relationships and participates in community affairs.

Ensures preventive maintenance of equipment.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education

AAS degree in Radiology Technology required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) required.

Current Radiology Texas Medical Board (TMB) License required.

Current BLS for healthcare professionals required.

Five years’ diagnostic experience required.

Required Skills

Must possess superior ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred.

Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service.

Must possess high degree of organization and be able to multi-task efficiently and effectively.

Advanced computer knowledge required, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.

Ability to use standard office equipment (copier, fax, etc.).

Functional Job Requirements:

Job requirements include, but are not limited to: sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, squatting and reaching. Requires good finger dexterity, repetitive motions with hands and fingers. Requires ability to have good vision and hearing. Pushing and pulling equipment may be necessary.
