City Experiences is seeking a Assistant Port Engineer for our Seaward Services operation.

About the Opportunity:
The Assistant Port Engineer will support the Port Engineer in the safe operation of High Speed Transport and Offshore Support Vessels in a fashion that will promote and maintain the utmost integrity and the highest standard of customer service within the industry, while being responsible for coordinating all issues related to crew and vessel management, including but not limited to: berthing, mooring, supplies, budget tracking, emergency services, client reporting, overhauls, conversions, design engineering and general management.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist in the safe operation of vessels within the legal requirements of the USCG and other pertinent regulatory and classification agencies under the supervision of the Port Engineer and Director of Engineering.
- Assist with the management functions of the vessel regarding berthing and mooring management, supplies procurement, budget tracking, emergency services coordination, client reporting,
- Assist the Port Engineer in ensuring vessels are operated and maintained in accordance with SSI's Caretaking Operations Manual, SMS, MPM and MSC's HSV Technical Manual.
- Oversee shipyard and repair facility workers during annual availability and major
- Supports safety drills, procedures, and provides technical assistance and instruction to crewmembers in keeping with USCG, IMO-HSC and our SMS requirements.
- Support the supervision, mentoring and manage conduct and performance of maintenance personnel, ensures watches are properly maintained and orders carried out in accordance with all legal and professional requirements.
- Routinely reports condition of engine department equipment, machinery, and personnel; unusual developments; and repair progress to the Port Engineer and/or Operations Manager and/or VP
- Conduct safety audits both as mandated by company policy and as circumstances
- Ensures that all spending is approved, conscientious, careful and focused and that appropriate Purchase Requisitions are developed for all requirements
- Prepares part specifications, locates distributors or vendors for custodial supplies, paint, equipment and tools; maintains inventories needed for operation of mechanical and non-mechanical systems
- Provides interface with industry representatives such that all maintenance issues are rapidly resolved
- Participate in Seaward Services, Military Sealift Command (MSC), Safety, Seamanship and other training or meetings as required.
- Engages in hands-on repairs and improvement projects as workload and criticality requires
Requirements & Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
- Has held Engineer Unlimited License
- Has held STCW 95 certificate
- Must possess a valid United States Passport
- One (1) years’ experience as a Marine Engineer, demonstrating the ability to handle increasing levels of responsibility or comparable experience, or an equivalent degree from a Maritime Academy
- Current or Prior MSC training a plus
- Water Jet experience preferred
- Must be able to acquire and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
- Must be able to acquire and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC)
- Excellent career record in the marine industry
- Must be computer literate in Microsoft Office 2010 or Newer (Word, Excel, and Project), CAD, and shipboard monitoring and maintenance software.
- Possess and demonstrate superior mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, electronic and other skills exercised in engineering management of a large motor vessel
- Demonstrate appropriate management and administrative skills
- Logically and independently plan, organize, and complete work assignments
- Ability to use independent judgment and discretion to develop and execute innovative solutions to engineering problems
- Evidence of ability to bring increased value to task through efficiencies and cost-control
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and maintain quality working relationships with other employees and the public during the course of work.
- Ability to establish and execute complex oral and written instructions and to apply available guidelines to various situations, and to carry on more than on function at a time in an environment subject to many distractions.
