PROVISIONAL APPOINTMENT (Pending Future Civil Service Examination)

Position: Assistant Supervisor of Transportation (12 month)(full time)

Status: Provisional Appointment (pending future civil service examination)

Start Date: ASAP

Work Day: 8 hours (generally 10:00am to 6:00pm, subject to change based on department needs)

Starting Salary: $70,000.00 (prorated based on hire date)

Minimum Qualifications:
three (3) years of full-time paid work experience in the field of transportation (school district or commercial), which included both supervision of personnel and administration of routing/scheduling/overall functions of the department. Experience/knowledge of automotive repair preferred.

Requirement: Valid New York State Class B CDL.

Description: This is a professional level work assisting in the administration and supervision of the transportation department of a large school district. The position supervises and directs the safe operation of a large fleet of school buses/vans. The position supervises and directs the repair of school buses/vans. Acts as intermediary between students, parents, bus drivers. The position investigates school bus/van accidents. The position will assist in the preparation of the department budget, and will assist in the recruitment of and screening of potential employees. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Supervisor of Transportation.
