Position Overview

Manage the commodities within the department to ensure that the product is made to company fit, style, and quality standards within a set timeline. The Assistant Technical Designer will report to the Technical Design Manager.

Responsibilities

Assist the Technical Design Manager in the daily functions listed below:

• Review all sample prototypes that are received, with regard to construction and fit, and match to detail sheets
• Prepare fit samples prior to fittings by measuring and steaming
• Provide fitting photos, create construction sketches as needed
• Analyze all pre-production samples to meet all requirements as per Club Monaco standards
• Inspect TOP samples to match PP approvals that uphold brand standards
• Maintain consistency of fit standards for the Club Monaco Brand within Women's Commodities
• Input and update style information in Flex PLM system
• Digitize patterns in the Gerber system

Skills and Requirements

• One year of experience preferred, or relevant freelance work and internships in appropriate areas
• Excellent interpersonal skills supporting a team environment
• Must be able to sketch flat technical sketches on Illustrator
• Excellent English communication skills - verbal and written
• Excellent time management/project skills
• Strong planning and organizational skills with a sense of priority for deadlines and attention to detail
• Ability to recognize and react to changing work demands
• Comfortable and confident in making effective autonomous (and group) decisions in a timely manner
• Goal oriented: ability to stay focused on creating winning results
• Basic understanding of pattern making, draping, garment construction, grading, and factory production
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Ability to execute last minute changes in a deadline oriented position
• Ability to follow direction accurately
• Shows initiative in a change oriented company
• Ability to be flexible
• Knowledge of: Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Gerber/ Accumark,, Excel, PLM (or equivalent sample management program)
