Job Description
Associate Director, Medical Education & Programs (ME&P), Oncology
Location in Foster City, CA, Morris Plains, NJ, or Remote
With minimal direction and guided by the highest unmet educational needs, lead the strategic development and administration of Gilead’s oncology independent medical education (IMED) program portfolio.
Work with multiple internal functional areas, as required, and communicate within and across departments, in accordance with Gilead compliance guidelines. Drive aggregated outcomes analyses of programs supported. Contribute insights from IMED programs to cross-functional teams as appropriate. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

In partnership with Medical Affairs Oncology teams and Senior Director of ME&P, develop and lead the annual implementation of oncology IMED function globally.

Serve as a lead member of Oncology Independent Medical Education. Review and assess all IMED applications/proposals and make recommendations based on needs assessments and alignment with Gilead’s educational priorities.

Lead internal cross-functional meetings and external meetings with key stakeholders, including independent educational providers (IEPs) to ensure appropriate program administration and compliance with applicable policies.

Manage Oncology IMED program budget within 3%. Work with Finance to ensure accurate monthly grant accruals. Contribute to the development of the annual IMED budget.

Support compliance initiatives relative to IMED functions at Gilead.

Work with Medical Affairs senior leaders and Business Conduct to ensure IMED program grants are fulfilled in compliance with ACCME, FDA, OIG, and other relevant U.S. guidelines, regulations, and policies, as well as Gilead policies.

Assist in the development and implementation of department policies and procedures. Recommend or initiate process improvements when required. Provide training on new processes, systems and applications.
Knowledge/Skills
-
Subject matter expertise in oncology science and healthcare delivery. Fluency with medical communications and terminology.

In-depth knowledge of adult learning principles and educational design, as well as IMED funding, administration, and evaluation/reporting requirements, preferably within the setting of a pharmaceutical industry funder.

Demonstrated proficiency in project management. including planning, prioritization, objective setting, and budgeting is required. Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in a deadline-driven environment.

Ability to conduct presentations and negotiate desired outcomes in a variety of settings through the appropriate use of both verbal and written communication.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and drive consensus among individuals from a variety of cultures and disciplines.
Education & Experience
-
5+ years of experience in medical education in a biotech or pharmaceutical company
-
BS/ BA degree plus 10 years of relevant experience; relevant advanced degree preferred (e.g. MPH, MEd, PharmD, or Ph.D.)
