JOB SUMMARY:
The Associate Director of Youth Services and Community Programs is responsible for the leadership and operational success of Gads Hill Centers out of school time educational programs for children and youth. This role oversees the Junior Building Leaders program located in two sites (Pilsen and North Lawndale) serving 100 children ages 5-12 and the Building Leaders college readiness program which serves 40 youth ages 13-18. Finally, this individual will lead our Community School programs in the West Loop which provides after school programs for children ages 5-10. This manager leads a dynamic team of professionals. This position leads parent engagement efforts and recruitment strategies for the department to ensure that all programs operate at full capacity. This position ensures that all licensing and compliance standards for the site are met. This position is also responsible for conducting outreach, recruitment and management of the agencys health and PlayStreets initiatives ensuring that Gads Hill Centers programs are in alignment with the mission of our health initiatives as required by funders and that deliverables are realized. Additionally, the position helps to oversee and implement all components of Gads Hill Centers Healthy Moves program.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Youth Services Program Management
- Develop clear concepts and plans for new programs.
- Execute all grant contracts relevant to the department and meet program deliverables.
- Produce program reports on a regular basis in a timely and professional manner.
- Adhere to DCFS Licensing Standards and notify Chief Operating Officer of any potential licensing violations.
- Adhere to childcare standards and eligibility requirements; work with Enrollment and Recruitment staff to ensure that all eligibility requirements are met.
- Supervise parent engagement plan to involve parents in program, agency, and advocacy events.
Youth Services Recruitment & Outreach
- Develop an outreach strategy to ensure that all youth programs operate at full capacity.
- Represent Gads Hill Center at city, state, and national levels on policy matters pertaining to youth and their families by participating in committees of interest outside of Gads Hill Center.
- Collect and manage data on outreach activities to track effectiveness; prepare reports with analysis of outcomes.
- Cultivate and strengthen relationships with community-based partners, elected officials, and key stakeholders to strengthen programs; engage participants and volunteers.
Youth Programs Staff Supervision
- Supervise and train youth program staff on how to successfully work with the students and apply the educational modules and materials in their classroom.
- Plan and implement staff professional development opportunities.
- Conduct and document formal observations of staff for individual and group supervision and provide timely written feedback.
- Identify and contract supplemental supports such as substitute teachers as needed.
- Evaluate program goals and objectives to identify issues and develop corrective action plans, as needed.
Health Initiative Management
- Train and supervise a network of adult health promoters
- Support health promoters in identifying outreach opportunities, workshops and cohort meetings.
- Ensure that workshops adhere to the program logic model; plans and implements trainings for health promoters as needed and required by funders to meet deliverables.
- Assist in the planning, implementation and evaluation of health and parent training initiatives to ensure health education program goals are met.
- Observe and monitor workshops at random to ensure adherence to program logic model.
- Monitor collection of evaluation and assessment data and enter data into database to measure and analyze effectiveness of deliverables.
- Maintain an inventory of project materials and distribute to contracted health promoters as needed.
- Support the creation, modification, and evaluation of a comprehensive curriculum for health-related programs in nutrition, mental wellness, and civic engagement.
- Identifies issues that affect community health outcomes and creates materials to engage health promoters in organizing and advocacy.
PlayStreets Management: Event Planning and Implementation
Coordinate with CBO subcontractors to plan 150 PlayStreets events in target communities.- Maintain an accurate schedule of all events and ensures that any weather-postponed events are rescheduled.
- Conduct trainings with CBOs on PlayStreets model and implementation plan.
- Schedule fitness instructors for events based on community preferences and resolves any scheduling changes.
- Secure all resources for events and maintains an inventory of all materials/supplies.
- Collaborate with CBOs to obtain permits for street closure, post no parking signs and provide barricades.
- Attends PlayStreets events to ensure subcontractor adherence to contract and provides problem solving assistance
Community Program Outreach and Evaluation
- Develop flyers/materials for all health initiatives.
- Communicate event schedule to local stakeholders (i.e. aldermen, police departments, schools, etc.)
- Collaborate with agency communications staff to maintain regular exposure on agency social media.
- Ensure that each CBO has a clear plan to meet outreach goals.
- Monitor each PlayStreets event and documents observations to provide feedback to CBOs following events.
- Ensure that evaluation data is collected by CBO staff accurately, enters the data, and provides data as requested.
- Engage with potential CBOs to enhance events by bringing in resources to meet the community needs
- Participate in GHC civic engagement initiative by participating in community committees, or coalitions
FinancialWorks
- Train frontline staff to conduct basic financial coaching to clients and then refer them community resources
- Attend local and national trainings pertaining to financial literacy and economic mobility opportunities.
- Monitor agency wide outreach efforts and reports monthly outreach data to UnidosUS.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors Degree required
- 3 Years experience in leading youth service and community outreach teams
- Ability to build youth programs based on strategic logic models
- Experience training and supervising youth service and community outreach team members
- Experience working in a growth oriented nonprofit
- Experience managing requirements and reporting for private funders and government support sources
- Experience in utilizing program data to analyze trends and build strategies for improvement
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and comfort in using relational data bases such the Salesforce platform
