Position Description

Advertised Job Summary
The Department of Political Science at the University of South Carolina seeks applications for a nine-month, full-time position in Comparative Politics to begin August 16, 2023. We seek a full professor or an advanced associate professor whose scholarly, teaching, and service accomplishments are eligible for promotion to full professor.

Successful candidates are expected to teach substantive courses in Comparative Politics and contribute to the department’s graduate and undergraduate programs in methodology (training in qualitative methods, time series, and advanced maximum likelihood estimation is preferred).

Required Education and Experience
The position requires a Ph.D. in political science, plus years of academic experience consistent with the academic policy for faculty rank.

Preferred Qualifications
We seek candidates whose research focuses on Eastern Europe, especially the mobilization of extreme, radical right parties and varieties of the illiberal backlash. We seek candidates with well-conceived, theoretically informed research agendas who have published in leading outlets.
