JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of assigned supervisor, this position provides strategic oversight and hands-on administrative and operational leadership for all research sponsored activities. This position is responsible for optimizing OSP’s operations and structure, including the identification and implementation of best practices and technologies to enhance research efficiency and productivity. This position serves as the designee of the Authorized Organizational Representative (AOR) for submitting grant proposals to external agencies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides leadership in management and continuous improvement of all pre- and post-award activities, and regulatory compliance for external sponsored activities.
Reviews and approve documents requiring institutional/administrative approval.
Reviews, negotiates, and approves research contracts for campus, university representatives, and sponsors regarding specific projects.
Represent UTHSC to governmental, foundation, industry and other agencies.
Provides guidance and educate faculty and staff, regarding OSP policies and procedures via workshops, website, email, and one-on-one training sessions.
Develop policies and procedures related to sponsored projects.
Promotes and develops interdisciplinary/collaborative/team-based methods across campus and identifies strategic opportunities to improve proposal submission and contracting processes.
Defines, manages, and implements best practices for research grants and contracts Administration.
Provides direction, resources, and oversight to help ensure that research sponsored activities are conducted ethically, objectively, and in accordance with federal regulations, university and sponsoring agency policies and procedures.
Manages federal, state, system and university compliance and reporting required and provide institutional leadership to ensure that all programs comply with the standards of the sponsoring agencies.
Maintains access to up-to-date institutional information for proposal submissions and registrations and serve as the E-Business Point of Contact (EBiz POC) in submission portals.
Provides direction for the interpretation of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB)\Uniform Guidance and the Code of Regulations for sponsored awards.
Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: Master’s Degree in Business Administration or related field. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: Six (7) years of experience in sponsored programs and/or research administration with at least 3 years of proposal submission experience. Knowledge of key compliance requirements as contained in Uniform Guidance 2 CFR Part 200. Knowledge of priorities, procedures, and funding agencies such as NIH, NSF, DOD, DOJ and a variety of other federal and state sponsors.
