Job Summary
Jimbo’s Jumbos, a major division of Hampton Farms, located in Edenton, NC, is seeking an engineer to oversee the implementation and troubleshooting of new and existing machinery, and provide a hands-on, continuous improvement approach to the manufacturing processes. Candidate must be proficient in ladder logic and programmable logic controls. Salary to commensurate with experience. Essential Job Duties
- On-floor support of manufacturing activities. Lead key automation support and troubleshooting for manufacturing and packaging equipment and provide operator assistance when needed.
- Provide automation technical support, implementation, and ongoing management.
- Use technical knowledge to ensure the efficient operation of a variety of automated processing and information technology systems.
- Identify and implement process and equipment improvements to enhance manufacturing processes.
- Ensure needed preventive and routine maintenance schedules are in place and being followed. Work with plant maintenance and operations for continuous improvement and to address performance issues.
- Understand and support all GMPs, safety, and environmental regulations. Ensure automation and preventive maintenance complies with these policies.
- Execute work independently or with minimal oversite, work with various groups across the organization.
Education, Knowledge and Skill Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Industrial and Systems, Electrical) required.
Excellent knowledge and proficiency in PLC and ladder logic required.
General knowledge of machining, part design, and manufacturing operations. Basic computer and control systems knowledge is required. Overall good mechanical and electrical aptitude. Experience in automation highly preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively and work well with others individually and in a team setting. Excellent verbal and written skills. Good problem solving, analytical, & troubleshooting skills required. Ability to work in Microsoft Office efficiently (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Work Environment and Physical Demands
Typical plant setting for a food manufacturing plant. Periods of cold in winter, with heat and humidity in summer. Dust and smoke/steam are common. This employee is required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb to extended heights or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Travel Required
Minimal travel required. Must be willing to occasionally travel to corporate headquarters in Severn, NC or other plants for training, continuous improvement, or other initiatives.
