Automation Engineer-Kalmar (Paramount, CA)

Reporting to: Manager, Automation Services

Salary: $100-115k/year (Relocation package available for candidates willing to relocate to the Paramount/ Los Angeles, CA area)

Position will be working onsite at the Port of Los Angeles- candidates will need to reside within an hour of the port. Relocation may be available for experienced candidates not currently living in the area.

Kalmar Automation Solutions is looking for Automation Engineers to work in a Global TLS Support team serving customers around the globe and providing support for Kalmar automation projects globally. The role is based in the Los Angeles, CA area.

Key Accountabilities:

· Provide support to global customers, including weekends, when needed

· Proactively monitor customer operations to ensure maximum speed and uptime by responding to issues as they arise in real time.

· Anticipate operational problems by studying operating targets, modes of operation, unit limitations, monitoring unit performance

· Work with customers closely to define, prioritize, and document business and operational requirements for Kalmar Automation Solutions

· Report system bugs and problems through reporting tools

· Utilize experience and judgement to plan and accomplish performance goals

· Support global customer projects

· Install and commission new HW/SW to customer environments

What you will need to succeed:

We are looking for a talent who is detail oriented, hardworking and self-motivated. The ideal candidate should be able to work under schedule pressure and be customer oriented with great communication skills. Ideally, you have:

· Degree in Automation technology, Information Systems, Computer Science or related disciplines

· Direct experience in port technology

· Experience in a business related to automation/software implementation and integration

· Software testing, Test Automation and scripting/coding experience

· Willingness to develop strong technical and trouble-shooting skills in several applications and technologies

· Experience in Linux and Windows

· Database skills: SQL, Cassandra, Kairos, Oracle

· PLC programming skills (Siemens, Omron and ABB)

· Networks: WLAN & LAN technology including components e.g. network switches and access points etc.

· Knowledge of networking technologies and relational databases structures or web-based enterprise solutions and technologies

· Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, other languages, such as Spanish, are seen as an asset.

· Valid driver’s license

· Current TWIC Card (or ability to obtain TWIC immediately following hire)
